It is Russia + China plus others....TODAY if it came to military conflict they would kick our asses, the only question is would it take America longer than a week to surrender.
Offense is always tougher than defense. The good news is that the Ukrainians are fighting on home turf. Even with the Separatists supporting Putin’s mercenaries and canon fodder, there will still be Ukrainians who remember they are Ukrainians, not Russians.

Have you heard of the Cold War?
When a much more powerful USSR (compared to todays Russia) tried to take on and outlast the West based on a line that was drawn between East and West Germany?
Look up how that worked out for a much stronger USSR in taking a combined West force in proxy wars and battle lines. Google what the supply lines and store shelves through out USSR countries looked like.

Yes Ukraine was in the midst of trying to clean up the massive corruption, most of which was a legacy of the Putin run Oligarch years in that country.

That hockey stick up growth was when Putin's Oligarchs were pushed out of power and Ukraines economy (still small) was enjoying its biggest success and growth. Foreign money was just starting to flood into Ukraine into places like Odessa and many, MANY Russians would holiday in Ukraine and speak to friends and family who lived there.
That was a complete embarrassment for Putin as it demonstrated that what the Ukrainians had to do to succeed was push out Putin and his minions. The message that continues success and optimism in Ukraine would send to Russian citizens was 'get rid of Putin and you too can enjoy what we are enjoying'.
Putin understood that with the amounts of foreign investment starting to flow in, it was now or never for him to attack and try to take back control of Ukraine and syphon off all their wealth to his benefit.

the USSR was way more powerful than todays Russia.
The USSR engaged in a proxy war with the West with Germany as the battle line in between them and lost badly. Starved out and could not supply their lines. And yet today you guys look and say it is Ukraine and the West who will be starved out and not Russia.
You are the one living in a fantasy world. ONe where history is not taught or known.
