Yeah, something like that. He had to be totally unrecoverable. And nobody else in the plane could even use the radio.

Why someone would report on whom the parents of those who died gave money to is beyond me. It is not part of the "who, what, where, when, and why" that the article should answer. This is why nobody trusts even "mainstream" news sources nowadays. Trying to give you reason to dehumanize children and others who died in a plane crash is abhorrent.

If there was any respect you had earned from me in the past, it is now gone. You are, as one of my High School teachers would have said, lower than whale poop, which sinks to the bottom of the ocean... (I always disliked that teacher too, he was obvious about his bias against certain people in the classroom).
