This woman needs to be fined and barred from the park too?!! She was also very lucky this time too?!!

A woman was nearly gored by a bison after she tried to touch it in Yellowstone National Park.

A video posted to Instagram by TouronsOfYellowstone, credited to Russ Bjorn, shows a group of people on a walkway within the park, right next to the massive animal.

A woman can be seen extending her hand, trying to pet the bison. However, it then lunges forward, as if it is about to charge.

The woman runs away, falling over as she does so. She and the rest of the group can be heard squealing in fright.

The bison fortunately does not move any further and leaves the woman and the rest of the party alone. Newsweek has contacted the park for comment.

In Yellowstone, the bison population ranges from 2,300 to 5,500 animals. They can become very aggressive if they are approached and feel threatened. The bovines are actually responsible for more injuries in Yellowstone National Park than any other animal.

For this reason, the National Park Service enforces a rule wherein all visitors must stay at least 25 yards from bison at all times.

Bison can weigh up to 2,000 pounds and are capable of throwing grown men into the air "like rag dolls," according to the NPS.

On average, bison injure one or two people in Yellowstone every year, according to a 2018 study.

I know a nearby bison rancher, yeah. Folks keep these things on ranches so you can have bison burgers and steaks at some of the "fancier" restaurants.

I was in Canada a few years ago. A huge moose was by the side of the road. A car pulled up and a pudgy housewife jumped out of the car.,ran up to the moose and started snapping photos. She was within 10 feet. He stomped his feet a bit and snorted She took as many as she wanted, walked back to the car and they drove off. Some people just get lucky and do not know it.

This reminds me of all the stories I now see about people who die falling off of cliffs trying to take a selfie.

So many people are deeply dumb now.

She was very lucky.

i honestly understand how that could happen, though.

I love beautiful furry creatures, and my instinct is to want to pet them.
Obviously, reality doesn't allow that with all of them.

I can show affection to a race horse in the paddocks with gentle strokes on the nose and behind the ears,
but a South American Jaguar is best appreciated with just a smile from a distance,

I was camping up at the Wichita Mountains Buffalo Refuge in Oklahoma once with my wife, kids, and my Bother-in-law and his wife and kids.

I got up early and was the first one up, and was going to start the coffee going, and I looked over behind me, and there was a mature male buffalo grazing just 15 yards away. I just went about my business and he just kept on chewing the grass. He was probably used to humans, but It was a bit scary none-the-less.

I was able to get some really close up pictures and movies though.

I think the ones that are used to humans, are safe around you as long as you don't try to get too close to them or try to think you can pet them or feed them or something foolish like that.

BUT damn, I didn't know they would be right there in my Camp! I wasn't expecting that!

It was a great weekend and really nice scenic place though!

If I were a child not yet aware of all of the world's realities,
I could very well have been stupid enough to try to pet the bison.

I always loved furry creatures.
That's probably why I get along so poorly with the other hairless apes like myself.

The wife and I like cats as well as dogs. In fact, this is my lap as I type this post…

We visited a cat sanctuary where we were able to pet a juvenile Lion and a baby Liger. Their hair is a bit rougher than I would have thought but it was really cool to get to pet them.

I would never approach a Buffalo (Bison) though. I’ve seen too many mishaps involving bison, moose and elk.

Some people are stupid, some are arrogant, some genuinely ignorant when it comes to big animals ... especially when they are in "human" surroundings?

 She was lucky she wasn't knocked into next Tuesday!

We have a photo of our son holding a lion cub.
He was about five.
Now he's 49.
Sadly, the lion cub must be dead by now.
I'm not sure if the furry things don't live long enough or if we live too long.

This guy is 13. He’s in the wife’s lap right now in almost the same position. He’s trained us quite well to sit still and not cough or sneeze while he’s sleeping.

And some are incredibly selfish.

So many times you can see the wild animal wants no part of being approached or petted by a human, whether in the wild or even these interactive zoo's and yet humans push in and while saying 'ahhhhh' and then force themselves on to the animal to pet it.

In a world where we push that consent should matter they just don't GAF what the animal wants. All that matters is their selfish need to reach out and pet it.

Yeap

Animals love me because they can feel my respect for them

Remain calm

Ignore them if they show any apprehension

That is what the want you to do

Ignore them and let them investigate you in their own way and time

It proves to them you are no threat

people have often said to me things like “my cat never lets others pet her”

Once a guys Dalmatian charged me from the opposite side of the street

I bent over and compelled him over to me like he was my best buddy

Saying “come on boy, come on sweetie” while slapping my thighs with my hands

By the time he got to me he was all wiggly and full of kisses
