It was a windy day, and some wisenheimer laid out Black Sandbags at the feet of the Prompter stands in case the wind started to blow the prompter stands over. Prompters are basically just oversized tablets that are quite expensive, and they are already top heavy on their stands, even without the wind. But, if they crash to the ground, they can be ruined and then there goes the speech as well.

Biden was shaking hands and was distracted with someone and was walking away from the microphones when he stumbled over the sandbag.

Perfectly understandable accident just waiting to happen.

I worked in Audio/Video Presentation Services for several years. I've set up many events just like that one, and even ran the Prompter Software, so I am just basically speaking from experience. Trust me, if you saw all the power cables, and Mic cables, lighting cables, speaker cables, stand legs, uplighting and stuff on stage, it's a miracle that anyone doesn't get hurt walking around on stages. Of course all the cables get taped down with floor tape, but sandbags get thrown around, and things are moved around by the customer after we installed them on stage. I've seen many incidents of falls on stage. I've even tripped over stuff myself.

I am also a Certified Rigging Engineer, so safety is kinda' my thang!

So let me ask then why would you call the person who put sandbags on the legs of the teleprompter a "wisenheimer"? What should they have done to keep it from toppling over in the wind?
