So how come you're avoiding the quesiton of why? It's because the answer is going to run in contradiction to your preferred narrative.

If DeSantis gets the nomination, I predict that Joseph Robinette Biden will drop out. I think the "I love Brandon" crowd of 30% of Americans only believe that Brandon can beat Trump... These sad popularity numbers of Biden's do not support his second term against anybody except the guy he's already "beaten" in a basement friendly Covid year where folks "rallied" in honking cars and Biden only left his basement 7 times.

Biden kinda played everyone on the debt ceiling, progressives and Conservatives.

But he played it smart, kept his mouth shut, and got most of what he wanted out of it.

I just wish they forgave the student loan debt instead of restarting payments in August...forgiving that debt would be great for the economy, no doubt at all. I feel like the student loans are going to be paused again and then Biden will just forgive them all in 2024 in order to shore up the Millennial and younger base before the election.

LMAO this is the stupidest take I've read all year, and I've read some pretty dumb ones.

Outside of Florida, no one likes or even knows DeSantis, and he's not the kind of guy that makes a good first impression.

Also, he's so short. Like maybe 5'8'' in lifts. Biden's 6' and his physicality alone would make DeSantis look small. DeSantis would probably insist in a box to stand on behind the debate podium so he doesn't look like the Keebler Elf. Optics are everything...and to be markedly shorter than the person you're debating is going to put in everyone's subconscious mind that DeSantis has already lost because of how small he looks vs. Biden.

DeSantis is a tiny, short little nobody that Trump is going to mock into oblivion...in fact, he's already started and it's working. All the partisan hype aside, you're probably right. But as we have seen, stranger things have been known to happen. Given DeSantis autocratic moves and such, the Dems would be fools not to hammer every blessed detail of his fascist leaning governing. But, traditionally the Dems don't do anything to anger or challenge the GOP directly in the press...one of the reasons they sandbagged Sanders.

Oh well, time will tell.
