No, the FBI response, which you failed to mention says it all:

“Documenting the information does not validate it, establish its credibility, or weigh it against other information verified by the FBI,” the spokesperson said in a statement, cautioning that providing such information could harm investigations and judicial proceedings and “unfairly violate privacy or reputations.”

Also, you both should know that Chris Wray, the FBI director was a trump appointee. Are you both claiming trump was too stupid to appoint a good FBI director?

The FBI has to answer to Congress. Congress could easily keep the document and its contents under seal allowing only the committee to see it and not make it public. Congress has that right under law as a watchdog over what the executive branch is doing. Checks and balances. What the FBI is doing is avoiding their legal duty by a weak equivocation.

False equivalence. What other things Comer has or hasn't done has no bearing on the LEGAL responsibility a government agency has to produce documents for a Congressional committee when subpoenaed for them. It isn't a choice. The agency is legally required to cough them up, like it or not. The agency can't say "No, we won't give them to you." Government employees, likewise, have no choice but to appear.

The only out is the Lois Learner route. Resign or retire to avoid the subpoena and then take the 5th.

I disagree. I feel Wray has a legal responsibility to protect confidential information and sources from nuts like Comer.

Funny you and your fellow lib-bashers were singing a totally different tune when trump loyalists and officials were ducking subpoenas and refusing to turn over documents to the 1/6 committee. I guess you feel congress should have held Steve Minuchin in contempt for withholding trump's subpoenaed tax returns?

Wrong. As a government employee Wray has a legal duty to turn over the subpoenaed information, like it or not. There is no choice involved. Now, Wray can quit and not do it, but legally he has ZERO choice but to cough it up.
The EPA has gone that route too on source information. They don't want Republicans (this is past not present as a case) seeing how they make decisions and come to conclusions on regulations because they know their data is phony.

Trump's tax returns are personal information and specifically protected by the Freedom of Information Act, as are yours and mine. Different thing from a government produced document held by a government agency, overseen by a government employee.
