More than a year in CTI school.

I was listed as fluent in Spanish by the AF and I did some duty for court appearances in Espana.

My niece speaks fluent Russian and has interpreted a book of Russian poems.

She is a lawyer too. She tried to teach me a bit of Russian but I gave up after about an hour.

Usually more than a year. If you take something easy like Spanish or French then it gets closer to just a year. I was a Russian Translator, it was a year at DLI and then about 6 months at the school where we learned to do the job and how handle classified info, etc.
