When you look at crime rates overall, some obvious things pop out:

Blacks and Native Americans suffer disproportional amounts of crime almost entirely at the hands of Blacks and Native Americans. Large urban areas suffer more crime.

Thus, it is blue states that top the statistics for crime and murder for the most part with a few red ones tossed in, mostly in the South.
