Interestingly, state-owned China Nonferrous Metal Mining had tried to purchase a majority stake in Lynas only the year before. Given the PRC's own large deposits of rare earths, one might speculate that China had plans to corner the world market for supply as well as production. The Australian government blocked the sale.

As iron ore prices have dropped and additional tonnes have entered the market from Australia, China's mines have become less competitive due to their lower-grade ore. Base metals also play an important role in the domestic mining industry as more than 30% of global zinc production was mined in China in 2018.

Why would you use rare earths in a battery?

Because they have the highest potential--look at a periodic table sometime--and make the best batteries.

Yes, Biden is leading the way in trying to get control over the minerals we will need in the future.

No, he's not. He and his idiot Secretary of the Interior are anti-mining, anti-drilling, and anti-resource extraction.

why do you think energy independence is a bad idea for america?

Ok, so 30 minutes at the charging station. Problem solved. Did you really think they didn't figure that out before buying all those EVs, TinyPeach?
Are you really that vacuous?

Ya, they tried that with fire engines but they ran out of jucie before the fire could be put out.
Joey wets panties but not enough to extinguish the blaze.

Same thing is said about transit buses. Sorry, but I'll take good reliable diesel over batteries any day.

This is an interesting experiment. I cannot wait to see what the results are, or even how quickly they can replace a fleet of cars with Tesla vehicles. I wonder if they will have separately charged batteries to run the lights and siren so they can sit forever with the lights on like they do when they are giving out a ticket or directing traffic.

We had electric street cars and cable cars for a long long time. They worked very well.

Only because they had a constant power supply. BEBs don't, and they will not last a full 16+ hours needed to cover an entire day's work. Plus, buses offer something trolleys don't-flexibility. You can pull a bus up to a curb, protecting your passengers, and you can reroute buses in case of an obstruction on the route.

EVs also have a 12 volt battery. The range of EVs is essentially the same as ICEs. They have to take time to refill gas and change over between shifts,.They have an extensive maintenance schedule for police cars.

Nordy, what the hell are you talking about? Both my ICE vehicles have nearly twice the range of an extended range EV.

Patrol vehicles are left running all day to keep electronics going and the vehicle cool/warm. Try that shit with an EV.

Cities that purchase EVs are doing nothing more than virtue signaling to the woke. m Everyone else is shaking their heads.

BTW the bulk of maintenance on Patrol vehicles is on tires and brakes both of which perform much worse on an EV.

You are lying again. And if you have a vehicle that gets 500 miles per gas tank, is that saying all ICEs have that range? Can you understand that claim is not universal, nor relevant, if true?
Brakes last much, much longer on EVs. Take the time to read something before you embarrass yourself with another false post.

Not on patrol vehicles. How many illegals are you having over for Birthing Persons Day dinner?

So brakes on cop cars are not brakes, but something different.? https://www.forbes.com/wheels/advice/regenerative-braking/ The fact that ICEs are always running means brakes have a tougher job stopping a car. Evs have regenerative braking. But I waste time. You do not care about the truth.

Nordy, you have no idea how hard a city patrol unit is driven. I promise you the regen button will be put in the low, or on some model EV's off position. You and the other EV pushers will get an earful when the rubber hits the road. (pun intended)

Please, Please go back to feeding the illegals you promised to take in. How many was it again?
