Putin tried to project strength, but Moscow Victory Day parade revealed only his isol

I wrote a report on USSR military power back in the late 1980's for JR ROTC. I am not sure if Putin destroyed a once mighty military, or whether that military was never really mighty. They literally have helmets made of tin. That is just pathetic.

They are hiding their last remaining usable tanks hoping to keep them. If they continued to use them in battle, they would completely run out of tanks by the end of the year.

That means that as western tanks join the fight, they will be unopposed by Russian tanks. A lot is made of the possibility that Ukraine will not do as well as most of us want in their offensive, but there is also a very real possibility they will do very, very well.

No you didn't.

No you didn't.

I really did. I am now going to massively oversimplify the popularly believed geopolitical situation over my life by decade. As with any oversimplification, it is not meant to be 100% correct, but the basic outline is correct.

1970's = We lost Vietnam, and worried we might lose everything. The supposed dominos were falling in the wrong direction.
1980's = There was no way the Cold War would ever end. The Berlin Wall was forever. We could only hope for lessoning tensions, but on the other hand Reagan told us that war was inevitable.
1990's = We won. Russia and China were going to become more and more like the USA. It was the end of history. Poland and the Baltic States joined the EU, and NATO. It was only a matter of time before Russia joined both.
2000's = We lost. Al Qaeda could strike us in our homeland. It was far closer to home than Pearl Harbor. It was more like something that happened in the War of 1812. In response, Bush invaded Iraq, which meant we were unable to do much anywhere else for a decade.
2010's = We were still hoping for the best from Russia, but being disappointed. We were still hoping for the best from China, but being disappointed.
2020's = The book is still being written on that. We were at first sure that the major conflict would be with China, but so far it has been with Russia.

Russia has over 13,000 tanks and they are being prepared for storming Ukraine so of course they aren’t going to be in a stupid parade

Russia actually has more tanks then Ukraine has soldiers so think about that

some of them even have engines.....

It is easier to build a new tank than to repair a tank that has been rusting in a Siberian field for 40 years.

I really did not see this coming, but I really should have. I assumed the Russians were adequately storing their tanks, but I have been to Russia, and should have known they never adequately store anything. Artwork at the Hermitage Museum literally has water damage. They are paintings hanging on the wall of their most prestigious museum, and no one has thought to seal a leak allowing water to destroy the painting.

The Russian tanks were poorly stored, so are basically useless. They might have a few hundred left, but that is about it.

Ukraine has somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 million troops. Russia has less than a thousand tanks.

Sure they do which is why Ukraine is steamrolling over Russia.

Hell they will probably take Moscow by the end of the month

Sure they do which is why Ukraine is steamrolling over Russia.

Russia has captured about 50 square miles after a year of fighting. In the last 24 hours, they lost 3 square miles of that. And the Ukrainian offensive has not even started yet. The last Ukrainian offensive captured 3,000 square miles, and forced the Russians across the Dnieper River.

None of this is steamrolling to Russians, but the Russians have not been able to steamroll the Ukrainians. Ukrainians have a huge force, some well trained, most heavily motivated, with more and more being trained every day.

Ukraine does not have the resources to sustain a long war against Russia without massive help and they aren’t getting it.

Russia has committed less than a tenth of their military to this conflict while Ukraine is using everything they have.

You seriously think Ukraine can win this?

Anything Ukraine has taken Russia can take back in a matter of days if they want but it doesn’t matter to them because they are simply running Ukraine out of people and supplies

Putin doesn’t care how long this takes because he knows he will have Ukraine in the end

The Russians have run out of tanks. The Ukrainians are getting more tanks. The Russians are forced to buy more shells from North Korea. The Ukrainians are getting more shells. I could go on, but basically, neither side has the resources for a sustained war, which is usually true.

Russia has committed less than a tenth of their military to this conflict while Ukraine is using everything they have.

Which is why Ukraine is doing so well. Russia has even been forced to call up new recruits to fight in this war.

You seriously think Ukraine can win this?

They could win, but they have a far better chance of fighting Russia to a tie. Russia does not seem to have much chance of winning.

Putin's main hope is to wait until a trump election puts putin's puppet into the white house.

His buddies raided the defense budget, now no Russian fleet to speak of and rusting military hardware in the bone yards

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Then why did all their invading tanks fail when they started the war?

They were hunks of rusting crap is why

The whole nation is on an oligarch graft system
