IRS agents investigate tax law compliance, and therefore are a law enforcement agency. Law enforcement usually does not use threats with weapons to enforce laws. If you jaywalk, a police officer will write you a ticket, and you will go to court to have the law enforced. If you rob a bank, a police officer will arrest you, and you will go to court to have the law enforced. The police officer will only use his weapon to defend himself and others while trying to arrest you. He will not hold a gun to your head and tell you not to jaywalk or not to rob banks.

Likewise, if you fail to report your taxes, the IRS will take you to court. They usually will not collect the taxes at gunpoint.

Any law enforcement that arrests criminals, or even questions criminals could end up being attacked. There are FBI agents who never have to carry a gun, but there are far more that really have to. And there are IRS agents who have to carry a gun.

What confuses me about your argument, you want me who does not arrest criminals to carry a gun, but IRS special agents who arrest criminals to go unarmed?

I don't want you to carry a gun to arrest criminals, I was speaking of defending yourself and your family in your home...which you refuse to do.

Why are the armed IRS GESTAPO carrying guns and arresting citizens? That is the job of the police, FBI, DEA.

The IRS takes care of tax crimes. The DEA takes care of drug crimes. The FBI takes care of general federal crimes. Even if the IRS pulls in the FBI to do the actual arrest, they will want an IRS agent to question the suspect about the tax violations.

There are other countries like Japan, and the United Kingdom, where law enforcement can arrest people without having to carry guns. America has so many guns that it does not make much sense.

Let's say the first shot kills the FBI agent, the IRS special agent can use his gun to defend himself, and even possibly arrest the criminal.
