The Russians last offensive captured about 50 square miles, including 90% of a town called Bakhmut, which even most Ukrainians have never heard of. The Russian offensive has completely run out of steam, and now the Ukrainian offensive will start. The US is worried that the Ukrainian offensive will "only" capture a thousand square miles or so, but it is possible they will capture far more.

Putin knows that if he storms through Ukraine that the world will panic and rush to defend them so he is purposefully taking it slow and wearing down Ukraine
Even with the funding Ukraine has been given they are running out of supplies quicker than they can replace them and the big one is they are running out of soldiers capable of fighting.
Russia has around 25 million people they can call up to fight and they haven’t even used a tenth of their military capacity in Ukraine.
Putin doesn’t care about losses or losing some ground because he knows he can change that anytime he likes.
The world is getting weary of the war, funding is drying up and it won’t be long until Putin feels it’s safe to finally end it

Sorry, they started their offensive, used up all their new recruits, and ended their offensive. It will take months to get new new recruits to start a new offensive.
I know how it pains you to realize Putin does not have God like powers.
If Putin had captured Ukraine in a week or two, it would have been a fait accompli, and we all would have had to move on. Now we can see Russia fail on a daily basis for a while.
That would require a WWII level of mobilization... Do you think the Russian People would accept a total shutdown of their economy just to invade Ukraine?
Actually, Putin wants the Russian Empire, which is noticeably bigger than the USSR.

Russia has over 13,000 tanks they could send in which they haven’t.
They have around 300 5th gen fighters and they haven’t used a single one yet.
Ukraine is on the ropes and nobody is coming to save them. The only nations that have the ability to match Russian numbers aren’t doing anything but sending a little cash as a gesture
On top of that Russia and China have made a military alliance

Unless Ukraine plans on taking Moscow any offensives they launch are meaningless.
And we all know what happens when armies invade Russia
I suspect that the recent leaks that the American Elite are fighting to degrade Russia to the last Ukrainian is the reason that the Ukrainians are now flat out refusing to launch an idiotic offensive. There is no way this does not end with the Ukrainians sure that we betrayed them.

Yes the world has decided that Ukraine is not the hill they want to die on. I imagine that within a year Ukraine will be incorporated into Russia and Putin will move on to his next target.

As it turns out, they do not. We used to think they had huge numbers of tanks, but it turns out that the tanks they had in storage are non-functional. They are almost out of tanks. Right now, the Chinese could invade Serbia, and not run across a single Russian tank. They were forced to steal Indian tanks that were being refurbished. The Victory Day Parade which usually has hundreds of tanks had only one tank.
The Russians have surrendered Ukrainian air space to the Ukrainians. They are scared to death to send their planes over Ukraine. This is nothing to be proud of.

Ukraine has a huge number of western trained and armed troops they can throw into the war. They will use those in an offensive, so it is clear they are in every position to launch an offensive.
Russian forces are counting on the Dnieper River to keep them safe. Crossing a river opposed is very difficult, but western forces have prepared for it. We will find out how well the western plans work.
Armies that invade Russia and Ukraine tend to fail... Luckily for the Ukrainians, they are not invading Russia... Unluckily for the Russians, they are invading Ukraine.
I think you got things reversed. Germany invaded Ukraine, and failed.
