Who got up early to watch the coronation?

It must be great to live in a civilized country like the UK.

Both a King and a National Health Service---it doesn't get any better than that.

I did. But I am an unabashed Anglophile. I just love the place...and the pageantry, which they do better than anyone.

My daughter studied in London during her junior year of college.
They almost had to force her to go home.

She got 4.0 for that year, and according to her, the entire year was a party.
I should have gone to school there as well, I guess.

The Brits chopped off a king's head, neutered the monarchy, stripped their power, and forced them to be a ceremonial figurehead.

I am okay with constitutional monarchies like that.

I doubt anyone here, with one exception, wants to live under the authority of the Thai monarchy or the Saudi monarchy

We lost many lives fighting because of their royalty so they can all go to hell.

Those that like it were the Americans who sided with the British and fought against our patriots

I guess it's hard for you to believe that people watched it because it's history in the making, and political party has nothing to do with it.

Been watching some of it, I do remember watching Queen Elizabeth's coronation when I was very young on a small TV that we just got, how the years flew by

It's pretty interesting that not many of us on JPP are watching this historic event.
They're missing a beautiful spectacle.
Our inaugurations look like a shit show in comparison.

We've got better food than they do--I'll say that much--
and that's important,
but they know how to throw a big bash with style.

No biggie, I'll just wait for the next one :)

Britain and the monarchy will never be the same since it lost all its colonies and now countries are leaving the commonwealth
