They don't want to admit that the term began among the Black community, to describe the state of being aware (awakened) to racial discrimination and injustice. Because to discuss that in negative terms would be to reveal themselves as the racists that they are. The Reichwingers grabbed the term and morphed it to mean anything that they are not -- open-minded, tolerant, accepting, nonjudgmental, compassionate, empathetic.

Since Republicans don't have any of their own original ideas and principals, it seems like they are reduced to inventing these little marketing slogans to maintain a toehold on the news cycle. But the problem with marketing gimmicks is they have a limited shelf life. When is the last time Republicans complained about Sharia law, or wars on Christmas in a way that got traction,?

Exactly. I was just reading a newsletter from our former state rep. in Missouri. She detailed the many bills the (R)-majority legislature is working on. Included are several FL-like grievance non-issue bills, including one targeting trans athletes. In that section, she points out that "In the 11 years since the Missouri High School Activities Association first adopted a policy governing participation by transgender athletes, only a dozen have been cleared to play." But yeah, there oughta be a law. But in better news, the effort to defund Missouri's public libraries was turned back. For now. Also stalled (for now) is a bill banning the state from doing business with any companies that include DEI language in their HR policies or mission statements, which includes all Fortune 500 companies.

This is fascism, not America.
