It;s a bitch though. this last round of sciatica has beaten up my core.

Dame Edna

John Barry Humphries AO CBE was an Australian comedian, actor, author, satirist and drag artist.

He had several personas, Dame Edna Everage was his most well known. Sir Les Patterson was another, an ever-drunk, dishevelled and lecherous Australian cultural attache.

What makes me laugh though is I'm certain that you'd never heard of him until I posted news of his death.
Renowned Australian actor and satirist Barry Humphries has died at the age of 89.

He was best known for his comic alter egos Dame Edna Everage and Sir Les Patterson, but also appeared in more than 20 films and authored numerous books and stage plays.

A statement from Humphries's family said he passed away peacefully in Sydney while surrounded by family.

Comic genius? Don't you know he was a criminal that needed to be kept away from kids? Thank god Republicans are making what he did illegal.
/S

Of course Dotty and Joan of Snark pile in despite never having heard of the great man. You're both imbeciles, just slink away and hide!!

Barry Humphreys had one of the sharpest minds with a truly rapier like wit. I went to see one of stage shows in the West End many moons ago, god help you if you wanted to go to toilet he was truly merciless.

Barry was a hoot. I loved his humor.

I never believed he was Transphobic, although he joked about trannies a lot.

Americans really never understood the men in drag comedy thing.

But, I was a huge fan of PBS for bringing us the British Humor over the years.

I knew he had been battling with his alcohol problems!

Sad to hear of his death! He will be missed around the world.
