The entire Florida Aquifer, basically the underground water supply for the whole state, is polluted with fertilizer nutrients and sewage. Famous springs all over north Florida which once ran pure and clean with snow white sandy bottoms now have depleted flow and are pathetically covered with algae. And offshore, the Gulf of Mexico is plagued with something called Red Tide, a nasty algae bloom that kills fish and sickens tourists on the beaches. It is responsible for a lot of lost hotel and restaurant business. The waters of Tampa Bay, Sarasota Bay and the Banana River were once clear and the bottoms covered with healthy sea grass. Now the waters are murky and the sea grass is either completely or greatly depleted. the Florida Keys once had expansive thriving coral reefs, but now they are largely just dead coral bits and pieces.

It would be logical for a Florida governor to be very concerned with these problems, but what is DeSantis doing instead? Using taxpayer money to send immigrants to Martha's Vineyard, banning abortion, removing gun restrictions despite increased gun violence, and creating a host of "Be mean to gays and trans laws."

It only makes sense to somebody who is appealing to right wing extremists.

Senator could be a goal for him. The previous governor and now 70 year old Senator Rick Scott may choose to retire after a second term in 2030. DeSantis is governor until JAN27. If he chose to run again and won, he could serve half his term then go for the Senate. Rubio has been Senator since 2011 and may choose to leave in 2028. I'm certain the inner circle of the Republican Party has quietly discussed the numbers.

Trump, who lives in Florida, has ramped up his attacks on DeSantis as the governor mulls a potential run for the White House. In his latest series of insults, Trump’s campaign sent out an email blast citing statistics that portray the state of Florida in a negative light, including statistics saying that Florida is one of the least affordable states to live in...

...This is just the latest series of insults the former president has thrown at the Florida governor, who has yet to make a formal bid for the presidency.
