Have you noticed that, as time goes on, things that once caused them great outrage are no longer triggers? How many ppl today say vile things about interracial marriage (other than a handful of knuckledraggers on this site)? How many bigots freak out about a Jewish person, or a gay person, or a non-white person living in their neighborhood or working at a desk next to theirs?
That's why they are fluffed up about a beer commercial featuring a trans actor. The more ppl are exposed to things out of their comfort zone, the more accustomed to them they become. And that's what terrifies bigots the most: the scorn and disapproval of civil society towards them because they're haters.
For her it's a vanity run.
It's Trump's party, and I don't see Republicans being able to pry their lips off Trump's flabby ass.
I am 52 years old. I am not "hip" enough to use the word "woke".... I am not even sure that "hip" is the right word.
I do think others should in general be allowed to live their own best lives. If Mulvaney wants to wear elegant gloves while drinking Bud Light, while it is not something I would do, I say why not.
Why should I care if you take me seriously? That is a serious question. Why should it matter to me?

Because they can't. Young people (30 and under) especially tend to lack the bigotry and prejudice of their parents. The haters know this. That's why they applaud stupid stunts like DeSantis and his "Don't Say Gay" legislation, the moves to ban books that have nonbinary characters or the history of racism in America, even defunding public libraries (Missouri and Michigan), cultural events and entertainment that shows alternative people being alternative, and so on.
They can't, can they? Trump is like Republican fentanyl.
