I do not usually defend Haley, but will do so here. Haley married Michael Haley, and took his last name. That is a normal thing in our society. Nikki is a nickname from Nimrata. It is not uncommon for someone to turn their nickname into something easier to pronounce.

Haley (a South Asian) married a European American, and produced a "mixed race" child. So which "race" is she betraying?

People underestimate how much racism there is in MAGA.

If Haley hadn't abandoned her family's Sikh faith tradition for a vanilla form of Protestant Christianity, that would have been an issue with the MAGA underbelly too.

The point is that the fact Haley's daughter has married a Black means that Halley is no longer a contender for the Presidency. Whether you think this is just or unjust, moral or immoral is beside the point. The political fact is that people in America do not approve of Black men marrying White (or White-looking) women, there are lots of reasons for this; one is it that it has a "distressing", un-natural vibe about it. There are lots of other reasons as well, but they don't really matter if you are looking at the political implication of this mixed-race marriage for Nikki Halley as a Presidential candidate. Even if she were a serious contender, the fact is, when Nikki Halley's daughter married a Black African male any high political aspirations she may have held were instantly terminated.
