InBev (Bud) is brilliant. Lots of free advertising

I suspect that in the last week lots of people have figured out that Bud is no longer an American brand.

The ironic aspect to all this is InBev makes some top class beers like Stella Artois.

AB InBev has decided to transfer production of its premium brand Stella Artois from Belgium to the United States. In a first step, bottling of Stella Artois will be shifted to St. Louis this summer with cans and draught production transitioning before the end of 2021.

In a second step, three more existing Anheuser-Busch (AB) breweries, namely facilities in Los Angeles, Newark and Jacksonville, Fla., will start production of the Belgium beer brand. AB said, it will roll out a major USD 1 billion, two-year domestic investment program across its portfolio and to adjust the plants for the production of the premium beer brand. The company also said the investment is aimed at stimulating the American economy.

The large-scale investment in Stella Artois will “help create and sustain jobs” across the United States, says Brendan Whitworth, Vice President, Northeast Region - Sales & Marketing at AB. In addition, the local production will cut every year more than 7,000 metric tons of carbon emissions from the atmosphere, which is in line with the company’s 2025 Sustainability Goals.

AB InBev employees in Europe fear that the relocation of production will result in job cuts in Belgium. A maximum of 29 jobs are at risk and 58 fixed-term employment contracts in the Liège brewery will most likely not be extended. A total of 760 people are currently employed there.

we drank it back in high school....tasted like corn flakes......

Crazy talk!! No self respecting brewer would ever use rice to make beer especially lager. American brewers were allowed to get away with murder just to save money no wonder your palate is ruined. All of those shitty beers like Bud, Miller, Michelob, Pabst etc use rice, nuff said.

Never heard of Pilsner Urquell using majority rice.
I do not think they use any rice.

Pilsener Urquell meets the Germans Reinheitsgebot (beer purity law). Budweiser doesn't. Budweiser sold in Germany is an "alcoholic beverage" not beer. Unfortunately, in recent years, the EU and various courts in Europe have reduced this law to basically being irrelevant.

Irrelevant because?

It's being tossed out in whole and part. The EU courts said the law was "protectionist" and worked against beer manufacturers outside Germany. Then the German courts started making exceptions for beers that used different ingredients made in Germany. It's getting to a point where the law isn't even relevant anymore due to all the exceptions and restrictions on its application to beer products.

German beers are not my favorite, but you can count of them being clean and pure.
