21 yo E-3 arrested for Pentagon leaks of Ukraine War docs

The kid is a big time libtard, born and raised in libtard heaven. What do you expect.

Everything he posted online was alt right. It is the type of stuff you could have posted. Are you saying you are a "libtard"?

Says almost never right Walt.

I will wait for some evidence.

Pentagon leak: Extremist signs?
On Thursday, federal authorities arrested 21-year-old Jack Teixera, the alleged leaker of hundreds of classified military documents. While a motive for leaking the documents remains unclear, experts said there are signs the alleged leaker was influenced by far-right extremism:

The documents were shared in a channel on the Discord messaging platform. Users of the channel also reportedly shared racist and xenophobic memes and jokes, along with talking a lot about guns.

In a report based on information from two anonymous members of the Discord channel, the Washington Post reported the channel's creator, who went by "OG," appears in a video in which he "yells a series of racial and antisemitic slurs into the camera, then fires several rounds at a target."

Discord has also featured in several high-profile incidents of domestic terrorism. The man who killed 10 people in a racist attack on Buffalo supermarket last year was active on Discord and left behind hundreds of pages of postings on the platform.

“Discord is definitely where you see a lot of the extremist chatter online,” Bridget Todd, a writer and host of the podcast "There are No Girls on the Internet" told USA TODAY.

But what has so far emerged about the leaker's motives is not definitive, Daryl Johnson, a security consultant and former senior analyst for domestic terrorism at the Department of Homeland Security told USA TODAY.

“It’s smoke at this point,” Johnson said. “It’s not a fire.”

The stupid kid just ruined his own life.

IMO, anyone with a TS clearance needs periodic lie detector exams like the CIA does with their agents.

Notice how all the Trumpian traitors and other anti-Americans are supporting this idiot: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65271348
"Mr Teixeira's family has a history of military service, and friends say he has long wanted to join the military, raising further questions about why the suspect would potentially endanger US national security by leaking the files.

His stepfather retired after 34 years of military service, while his mother previously worked for non-profit organisations focused on veterans, according to LinkedIn and public records cited by US media outlets. His mother posted photos of the family every year for Veterans Day....

...One member of the chatroom described Mr Teixeira as a young, charismatic gun enthusiast. Others said he was older than most in the group and appeared keen to impress them.

Before he shared the images of the intelligence in January, Mr Teixeira allegedly wrote up versions of the sensitive information and shared it to the chatroom.

But he reportedly began sharing photos of the files after becoming frustrated with the lack of response....

..."He got upset, and he said on multiple occasions, if you guys aren't going to interact with them [the files], I'm going to stop sending them," the unidentified group member told the newspaper.

At first, the leaks were kept inside the small chatroom, but in early March, members began posting them on other Discord servers, including ones dedicated to the game Minecraft and a Filipino YouTuber.

Investigators say Mr Teixeira wanted to figure out whether or not the intelligence community knew the identity of the leaker yet, and in April he started using his government computer to search the word "leak".

The Washington Post said they were shown videos from a member of the group of Mr Teixeira shouting racist and anti-semitic slurs before firing a rifle.

The stupid kid just ruined his own life.

All kidding aside, you are 100% correct. There are other people who have done similar things for major causes, whether right or wrong, that they believed in. This kid just ruined his life to impress gamers who were probably not impressed with him anyway. It is the saddest reason to ruin your life.

That did not ruin his life, but was not a bright idea. Again, there are people willing to sacrifice a lot for their racism. This is wrong, but at least they are doing wrong things out of conviction. This kid just seems like an idiot, which again is a saddest reason to ruin his life.

There is a lot of magical thinking both on the alt right, and, to a lesser extent, in society in general. These idiots do truly stupid things and are surprised when it ruins their life. They expect infinite do-overs.

His motivation and how he had access to the docs are not clear. I expect our NATO allies, not to mention the Ukrainians, to be quite upset with this new American failure.

I wouldn't call it a failure. Sadly we have to trust people with our national defense and some people do stupid things. The young man will have the rest of his life to ponder whether what he did was worth it.

He displays a distinct lack of maturity and self-esteem. The Air Guard must be sucking wind to accept such people.

People do not realize the impact of a dishonorable or less than honorable discharge has on future employment.
1. You will never work for a defense contractor.
2. Most city and state jobs are closed to you.
3. Potential employers will wonder if you are trustworthy enough to hire.

Just to name a few job consequences.

This dumb kid will be living in his parent's basement for years to come....after he finishes his 7-10 year sentence at Leavenworth.

He is getting the full on dishonorable discharge, and he will spend years in prison. Effectively, he will have a felony record... And will lose most of his 20's to prison.

And they are still trying to figure out what to charge him with. They might figure out a way to charge him with worse, and he might spend his 30's in prison, or even his 40's. His crime is so stupid, that there is not a standard criminal charge for it.

What are the odds DeSantis or some other Republican President won't commute his sentence like Obama did Manning?

How he had access to these docs has not been answered, insiders say that should have never happened, so we cant assume that all is as it appears. It might be that some very high level people or person used him as a patsy.

Manning spent 7 years in prison. That would basically be Teixeira's 20's. He will lose a major chunk of his life to this, first to prison, and then to trying to get his life back on track. It is much harder to get a college degree, if you are a famously stupid criminal.

Manning was willing to lose that time for something she believed in. I am not defending her, just stating she believed in what she was doing.

It appears that Teixeira threw away a major chunk of his life to impress a bunch of losers online, WHO WERE NOT IMPRESSED!!!. This is just painfully stupid.

There is some hope that he might convince the alt right he did it for some deeper reason... Fighting the deep state or some such nonsense. That is his only real hope right now. They are a gullible lot. Who knows, but it is the best strategy that I can see now.

Nonetheless, both actions were crimes. The motives of two nutjobs is only a minor part of their violations.

The fact Teixeira is dumber and/or possessing lower self-esteem may effect sentencing by a few years but I can't see him getting less than 7-10. Like you said, his 20s.

IDK if the military considers time awaiting trial to be part of his sentence. I know some civilian courts do such as with the insurrectionists.

Nonetheless, both actions were crimes.

Imagine the soldier who loses his life in war, for something he really believes in. Now imagine the drunk idiot who loses his life trying to impress his idiot friends who are not impressed anyway. Both have lost their lives, but one is heroic, and the other is just sad.

From here, Teixeira has two basic strategies:
1) "I was so stupid, I did not realize how bad this was." This is a step to far for that to work.
2) "I really believed in a cause." The evidence is against this one, but the more I think about it, this might work.

He claims he was doing it for Christian Nationalism, or some such silliness, and then if trump or trump lite are elected as president, he hopes to get a pardon.

The motives of two nutjobs is only a minor part of their violations.

Yes, for the most part you are correct. If it can be proven that the "leak" was to help an enemy, then it upgrades it to a death penalty, which is a major thing... But, other than that, it is a minor part.

Basically, he is almost certainly losing his 20's to prison, and possibly his 30's. Then he is moving in slow motion for the rest of his life, trying to build anything.

Well, at least he is alive. And he has not been connected to any deaths.

IDK if the military considers time awaiting trial to be part of his sentence. I know some civilian courts do such as with the insurrectionists.

I do not know.

This is worse than losing their lives. Giving out intel can result in the deaths of foreign assets and their families. It can reveal weaknesses or plans which can weaken our defenses and those of our allies.

If someone gives us our enemies secrets, he is a hero. If someone gives our enemies our secrets, we consider him a traitor, but our enemies consider him a heroes.

But giving out secrets to try to impress gamers, that is just sad. If Teixeira gets the death penalty, still possible, will he say, "I regret I only have one life to give, to impress a gamer whose name I do not even know"?

Still, Teixeira did something very bad. He must be severely punished. I am beginning to think being sentenced to 35 years like Manning makes a lot of sense. That would put him in prison until he is 57. I am not against commuting that sentence 7 years later, but the extremely long sentence will hopefully convince casual traitors to not do it.
