I think each case depends on the jury. We see some bogus SYG cases that are so blatantly wrong end up in acquittals, and a rare one where the shooter gets prosecuted.
Bottom line...it should be illegal (and supposedly is) to start an altercation, and then claim SYG defense.

Which SYG case? Zimmerman and Martin? Two fucking morons went out at night looking for trouble and found it. One had a gun. The jury agreed the evidence indicated Zimmerman was being attacked, pinned to the ground and was justified to use lethal force.
