That's a bit absurd, really. The man won reelection by a nearly 20% margin, even in Florida that means he got folks to vote for him that were not republican, let alone "only MAGAT-type morons".

Makes no difference, either Trump or DeSantis can easily win a Republican nomination. However when it comes to the general election, it's a whole different story.

If there are multiple candidates in the primary DeSantis won't win. If DeSantis goes up Trump alone DeSantis wins and goes on to win the Presidency.
 
The more people see and hear DeSantis the less chance he has.

He made a big mistake by becoming too visible too fast in this race. He did not declare but he took the position of a declared runner with his book tour and statements. Instead he should have done what Biden did to beat Trump the first time. Stay in the basement and just keep letting Trump talk and shoot himself in the foot and then emerge at the last minute and run with too little time for the people to turn on him.

Along with other Latin voters who fled oppression to come to America. Any immigrants from Communist/oppressive nations tend to vote Republican because they don't necessarily understand that Fox News is propaganda.

The moment any politican mentions 'Socialism', it dredges up memories of years gone by for these groups.

My dear Ukrainian neighbor was a staunch Republican who jokingly used the term 'crooked Hillary' for years after trump was elected.
