Riley Gaines 'ambushed and physically hit' after Saving Women's Sports speech at San

Many in China, and other East Asian countries, have the Tiger Mom mentality. They push their kids extremely hard academically. That’s a cultural thing, not a funding or U.S. political partisan fight. One can point to downsides of the Tiger Mom approach in terms of how well rounded the kids are (the lack thereof) and so forth but no denying the emphasis the families put on education.

As far as simply funding education that’s a separate discussion because as important as money is, how it’s used is more important. Spending more money poorly doesn’t do a whole lot of good. And if is as simple as claim vis a vis political parties then we would have great schools here in the Bay Area and LA but instead we have plenty with horrible results. It’s not that easy.
We pay more for public education per student than most countries. We would get more for our money if parents paid more attention to making their kids apply themselves. And make sure their kids respect their teachers. Although I don't think we pay our school teachers enough in most cases.

Sports are supposed to be a level playing field. When one side or person has an advantage that the other side does not have it is cheating. Some girl was ultimately cheated out of a sports scholarship and Riley Gaines was cheated out of first place and the third place finisher was cheated out of 2nd place etc. Lia Thomas had an unfair advantage that biological girls can NEVER have. So He cheated to get his hollow "victory". I don't think that is an oversimplification.
Thomas was ranked in the 400s as a male. Performance enhancing drugs are illegal in most organized competitions. The fact that men are allowed to dominate women is simply ridiculous. That might be a worse violation than using PEDs.

That you are a liar.

Sorry to confuse you, pup. I tried to dumb it down as much as possible without boring the shit out of the saner, more intelligent JPP members.

The moment Democrats started labeling Parents as Domestic Terrorists ...

"Loudoun County Schools had a father arrested to cover up his daughter’s rape by a skirt-wearing male student in a girls’ bathroom"

"When the National School Boards Association asked the Department of Justice to step in and investigate and treat parents as domestic terrorists, they cited Smith’s arrest as evidence of the threats they were facing."

If you weren't such a dumbass liar, Doktor Death, you'd realize that 92% of those funds are local. Yes, Beverly Hills, CA pays more for their students than Jackson, MS.

You're a fucking lying piece of shit to claim the Feds pay more than 8% of education funds....or you're a fucking demented moron. TBH, I'm not quite sure which one you are.

https://educationdata.org/public-education-spending-statistics

You keep going back to the same reference source while ignoring all overs, pup. This indicates to me that you are either very stupid or a liar. In your favor, I'm thinking the former based upon your other posts.

If a person is making threats to harm others, I agree they are domestic terrorists...even if they are parents and/or Trumpers.

The breakdown of the family unit (arguably due in large part to latchkey kids) began the decline in academics in the U.S.. As standards of living rose, two income families became the norm. Kids don't just willingly do homework/study. They must be urged to do so.

At the lower end of the spectrum, we have third and fourth generation illiteracy in the inner cities. There might be value placed on education in some homes, but the parents couldn't help the kids with studies if they wanted to.

The Asian cultures don't seem to have those issues. Granted, their kids might suffer more stress as over achievers, but there's a balance somewhere.

Part of the reason for that is how school funds are distributed. Typically, poorer districts get less money and richer ones get more money. I'll grant you that simply HAVING more money doesn't necessarily make a school better or worse, but it certainly goes a long way.

Look at this school in Indiana. This is what you get when you already live in a wealthy area. Shit like this is what people are talking about when we refer to things like systematic inequality.

The only problem with that is they still turn out mostly idiots...

Money doesn't produce better or smarter students.

In 1985 a federal district judge took partial control over the troubled Kansas City, Missouri, School District (KCMSD) on the grounds that it was an unconstitutionally segregated district with dilapidated facilities and students who performed poorly. In an effort to bring the district into compliance with his liberal interpretation of federal law, the judge ordered the state and district to spend nearly $2 billion over the next 12 years to build new schools, integrate classrooms, and bring student test scores up to national norms.

$2 billion on school infrastructure and related education items and the school district turned out fewer graduates than before.

Taj Mahal schools with state-of-the-art equipment, books, and materials will still turn out losers and dropouts if the students and staff are retards. Better a great teacher who is truly an involved and dedicated expert on the subject teaching in a shed with minimal materials than a disinterested and poorly versed teacher (probably a union teacher btw) in a modern classroom with every technological bell and whistle there is.

Indeed

BTW He was ranked 554th in the 200 yard freestyle as a male swimmer.

Well what does corporate America think the best method to attract talented individuals? (Hint: it's to pay them competitively)

I would always rather have more money than less, no question. But it’s still more than just that. The emphasis different groups put on education is a sensitive subject because it can delve into (negative) tropes and stereotypes when nuanced is called for but there’s also a definite element of reality to it.

I know I’m delving into generalities and stereotypes here but look at Asian student test results. They score better than any other group and are over represented at top schools, even with being penalized in their applications. But an argument you’ll hear is they have incredible test scores and grades but sometimes lack more well rounded applications thus having a more diverse class includes more ‘well rounded’ applications. Again, a lot of generalizations there. But going back to the China vs America view on education it tells a story

It's also to be selective in who they hire. They don't take anyone and everyone. Public education does that with its student population. They take bad actors, the mentally incompetent, and then mix them in with those who are bright enough and / or dedicated enough to want to learn. By doing so, they diminish the outcomes of everyone. Even colleges and universities are selective on who they enroll, but not public schools.

And yet Asian kids are still excelling is US schools. Their parent in general aren't coddling them. Which is where we all started out.

But but but we can't have AP classes because they may make under achievers feel bad.

Correct. How mentally stable they are is yet to be decided.

So are all ethnicities/social classes with parents who are involved.
Very few mass murders are Asian. My guess is the trans community has more mass murders than Asians as a percentage of their population..

Asian parents tend to be more involved.

Not sure how we got on the topic of mass murderers? I'm talking about mental stability. Kids growing into stable adults with stable families and a job that they actually love.

Overachievers tend to be obsessed with results. Test scores/income/material items.

Happiness cannot be measured in dollars.

In medical school we had a Chinese girl in our loose knit study group. She took FANTASTIC notes. We always used her notes to study from. She rarely missed an important point. Sadly she died in her first year of residence from a tumor on her thoracic aorta.
