March 15 (Reuters) - Republican lawmakers in Georgia on Tuesday advanced a bill expanding law enforcement's power to investigate election fraud, adding to the push by U.S. conservatives for more restrictive voting laws after former President Donald Trump's false claims that the 2020 election was rigged.

Voting rights groups and Democrats in both states say the legislation is intended to appease Trump and his supporters despite the fact that election fraud is exceedingly rare in the United States.

If fraud is exceedingly rare then what harm is there in this bill, since it would do little or nothing? How is it "more restrictive?"

Georgia repuke lawless makers should be charged for sedition, especially at their efforts to destroy the State's 2020 electors and at conspiring with tRump, and other federal charges and tossed in prison at violating the sovereign electoral process of the State of Georgia and its relationship with Democracy and U.S. Constitutional law.

Democrats say it's Republicans who cheat in elections. If this is true, wouldn't you think they'd support every voting American having voter ID's and stricter observation of vote counting?

Maybe fraud is "exceedingly rare" because it is exceedingly rare to adequately investigate for it.

Nah. It's rare. They investigate it.

There is a site that keeps track of all of the fraud they uncover. It's over 100 cases in every national election - but it's all onesy-twosy stuff. No coordinated fraud, and nothing that would move the needle, even in the smallest-scale election.

Any sort of national, coordinated fraud would actually be statistically impossible to cover up for any length of time.

As opposed to it not passing and them finding a way to abuse the system.

We already have mechanisms and processes and all kinds of things built into our system to police that stuff.

A bill like this is based solely on Trump's lies, which - inexplicably - millions just bought into.

Proof that they are looking for fraud like using a mail in ballots that don't belong to you.
