The President Bows . . .

It came from The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman and had to do with blacks struggling for civil rights, and there was no reference to "the Messiah" as RW's like to pretend.
You are seriously mistaken. Farrakhan called him "the Messiah"...

Seriously, you have got to read a bit more than the See B.S. stories you've been fed. And Oprah most certainly, and very reverently I may add, called him "The One". Pretending it is somehow "racist" to actually speak of these things is just hackery.

Your desperate apologist stance is really sad. I can remember when the left was all about people not following Dear Leader so reverently.

I'm glad to here that conservatives are now taking their cues from Farrakhan & Oprah...

Oh, I see. It’s merely a republican attempt to mimic liberal humor with respect to Dumbya’s clownish and buffoonish behavior on the world stage. i.e., ”See libtards!? Obama is just like Bush!!”. Way to go, teabaggers, you really got us on this one!

That photo of Obama is kinda funny for about a nanosecond, possibly. It does look kinda weird how low he bows. Possibly worth chuckle, especially if one’s sense of humor is honed from antics of the Limbaugh and Beck shows. I’m not sure it’s worth more than a momentary chuckle at best, and it sure as hell ain’t worth 300 posts.

Bush defenders and Bush apologists should answer one single question though. Is a bow even remotely close to being as funny as a president who vomits in the emperor’s lap; as a president who take a romantic stroll hand-in-hand with a decrepit Saudi king; as a president who surprises a horrified female German prime minister with an unwanted massage; or as a president who chews his food at an international summit like a cow masticating it’s cud?

The honest answer is no. It’s not even in the same league. Any other answer is strictly dishonest and laced with a dose of hyper bush-loving partisanship.

Carry on with the faux outrage, teabaggers!

Can you imagine the Hannity response to the above if the name was Obama? The humor of it is that his dupees would have also picked up that ball and run with it on cue.
In the meantime, Obama has been getting some pretty high praise for his performance regarding his trip to the Orient. bush's former Ambassador to China was singing his praises on Charley Rose last night as were other foreign policy mavens from Atlantic Monthly and the Council on Foreign Relations. Most foreign relations experts agree that the US world position was at a low level when Obama was inaugurated, another situation such as the economy that we're not supposed to blame on bush I suppose.
The Hannity/Fox ploy was merely an attempt to cover any accomplishments made by Obama on the tour, and once again the loyal lemmings ran into the sea.
Therein lies the real humor of the contrived, stupid, controversy in this thread.

The key is that when the opposition has nothing of importance to drag Obama down, logic deserts them and childishness takes over.
Farrakhan and Oprah speak for who? Of course, the fact is that if you don't buy into the childishness, you become an "apologist".

The comment referred to Oprah calling him "the One". Do try to keep up. I made no comment whatsoever about racism, and your inserting it is just more compost projection, although not surprising.

I have never called Obama "the Messiah" and don't know anybody who did, other than RW hacks. I don't give Farrakhan the time of day and certainly don't think he speaks for all liberals, let alone Americans in general. I've probably criticized Obama more in the last 10 months than hacks like you criticized bush in eight years. If you want to insult me, try and get your facts straight first, otherwise you come off looking like an idiot.

Nobody said he speaks for "all liberals", but your actions speak of worship, it seems to be an accurate description.

And "do try to keep up?" please, you are like a child. You hadn't a fricking clue that somebody that is a lefty leader, even if you don't like him, for many said anything like the "messiah" comment. The politically ignorant trying to tell somebody who pays attention to "keep up?" You are ridiculous. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

And you may want to learn about me before you make judgments about me. I've spent 8 years criticizing Bush policy, and I still do. Starting with the unconstitutional power grab of the "NCLB" act he and Kennedy dreamed up, and ending with his dragging his feet on his undeclared wars.

Why is it always the lefties that try to use stereotypes?

Somebody wrote on one of the threads that the Japanese were so embarrassed by the bow that they wouldn't print pictures of it, yet I found this article, among others, stating the opposite.

TOKYO, Nov 17 (AFP) - President Barack Obama's deep bow to Japan's emperor has been castigated by US critics as kowtowing to a foreign leader, but experts in Japanese etiquette praised it as an appropriate show of respect.

Visiting Tokyo last week at the start of his first presidential tour of Asia, Obama bowed down almost at a right angle as he shook hands with Emperor Akihito, the son of Japan's wartime Emperor Hirohito.

The gesture went largely unnoticed in Japan but has sparked intense debate in the United States about whether Obama had disgraced his country by showing excessive deference.

Experts in Japanese etiquette think not.

"Bowing is an expression of respect and open-mindedness as a person greets someone," said Reiko Kasai, chief instructor at JAL Academy, an intercultural training school.

"It is part of a greeting, with which one shows his or her willingness for the meeting," she said, adding that given his height, Obama may have chosen to bow so low to make eye contact with the Emperor.

Please. There's not a person living that I "worship", no matter how much you'd like to believe so.

And "do try to keep up?" please, you are like a child.

If I were like a child I'd have told you that you're ugly and your mother dresses you funny. Is it possible for you to answer a post without that seemingly congenital tone of pompous condescension?

You hadn't a fricking clue that somebody that is a lefty leader, even if you don't like him, for many said anything like the "messiah" comment.

Farrakhan a "lefty leader"? In whose world? The Nation of Islam has around 20,000 members, hardly a major force in society. Furthermore, you didn't even quote him correctly; apparently accuracy really isn't your strong point. What Farrakhan said is: "Sen. Obama is not the Messiah for sure, but anytime, he gives you a sign of uniting races, ethnic groups, ideologies, religions and makes people feel a sense of oneness, that’s not necessarily Satan’s work, that is I believe the work of God."[19]

The politically ignorant trying to tell somebody who pays attention to "keep up?" You are ridiculous. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I think I just showed who is ignorant.

And you may want to learn about me before you make judgments about me. I've spent 8 years criticizing Bush policy, and I still do. Starting with the unconstitutional power grab of the "NCLB" act he and Kennedy dreamed up, and ending with his dragging his feet on his undeclared wars.

I wasn't here for eight years so I don't know what you ever said about bush. However over the last 6 months I did and do see that your comments about Obama continually drip with scorn, so that allows me to judge you as a RW hack in the same way you judge me as a "worshipper".

Why is it always the lefties that try to use stereotypes?

Why is it always the righties that use sweeping generalizations?

Or you would use pretty much the same line that was so effective against you in an attempt to "get back" at somebody who clearly held an upper hand.

In the world where he holds some credibility among the left, which is the reality in which we live.

Yes, you just showed your ignorance for everybody to see, that was my point.

First, my comments in the past six months about Obama have not always "dripped with scorn" that is just a reading comprehension issue, you don't understand the difference between a subject and predicate.

I don't feel any scorn towards him, only for his worshipers.

Now my remarks about people who are willing to do or say anything at all, even contradict previous remarks about Bush and his gaffes, in order to protect their Dear Leader from criticism (like you have displayed here), are definitely filled with scorn. Just like my remarks about people who were willing to do the same for Bush are also filled with scorn.

Now, you've gone and done it again. You filled your post with assumption, generalized with a stereotype you expect me to fit, and simply made yourself appear a political child with your lack of knowledge.

You're doing well in this thread! Keep it up!

Thanks for the link, knowing the Japanese, I knew that would be the result. They're probably too polite to express how stupid certain people in this country are. You'll probably see no reply soon, Sean isn't on until tomorrow to tell them how to think. (Talk about Messiah worship, ain't that a hoot?)

It is not a 'main' issue. Not even now. Pretending that by discussing it now, means the Reps are going to use it as a main campaign issue in 2012 is simply moronic.

Its important enough to get morderates like you weighing in
you guys don't think you lose people in the middle with the fox flag pole your crazy.

Or you would use pretty much the same line that was so effective against you in an attempt to "get back" at somebody who clearly held an upper hand.

LOL. I rest my case. My original post was a factual statement re: Oprah's comment about "the One" , and that it referred to the black struggle for civil rights. You couldn't just agree or disagree with that statement, you immediately launched an insult. Maybe your last remark above should have been revised to "somebody who clearly held the lower hand" because with a few keystrokes you put yourself in the ranks of those who have no arrows in their quiver left except cheap shots.

In the world where he holds some credibility among the left, which is the reality in which we live.

I'm sure Farrakhan holds credibility with some 20 thousand Nation of Islam members. That's why they're called "followers". However, 20 thousand people, all of whom may or may not vote, are not representative of "the left". Furthermore, you ignored Farrakhan's quote starting "Sen. Obama is not the Messiah for sure...". Why?

Yes, you just showed your ignorance for everybody to see, that was my point.

After reading this forum for six months, I have a clear idea of who is or isn't ignorant, and it's not based on partisan politics. I also see that you unleash your sarcasm overwhelmingly on liberals, especially those who go toe to toe with you on the issues, while you mostly ignore and sometimes defend the egregious lies from fringe RWs. Frankly, I'd rather stand with the politically-savvy, well-spoken, "ignorant" liberals on this forum, than with the fearful, rumor-mongering conservatives running around screeching "the sky is falling! the sky is falling!" because they detest the president and his policies

First, my comments in the past six months about Obama have not always "dripped with scorn" that is just a reading comprehension issue, you don't understand the difference between a subject and predicate.

I don't feel any scorn towards him, only for his worshipers.

I've read your posts on Obama and stand by my comments. If liberals used your argument to explain their scorn of bush, you'd laugh them off the board because you know it would be a lie.

Clearly you've chosen to ignore my many posts detailing all the ways I've been disappointed in Obama so far. However, I will defend him against the stupid lies, misinformation and rumor that RWs like you are so eager to promote. How many threads have been dedicated to crap regarding Obama's birthplace, Obama's so-called terrorist ties, Obama's support of "death panels", and the most ignorant of all, Obama's leading the country into socialism/communism?

Now, you've gone and done it again. You filled your post with assumption, generalized with a stereotype you expect me to fit, and simply made yourself appear a political child with your lack of knowledge.

Project much? I've based my conclusion solely on the comments that you post. I've also noticed how many other people are questioning your recent comments, which leads me to believe you took a more moderate position in the past.

You're doing well in this thread! Keep it up!

Right back atcha, bro.

"I've read your posts on Obama and stand by my comments. If liberals used your argument to explain their scorn of bush, you'd laugh them off the board because you know it would be a lie."

Ugh. You again fail to comprehend the subject of the sentence. It is the worshiper I hold in contempt not the President. I've not argued I hold nobody in contempt at all, I've simply pointed out who I do hold in contempt and the fact that you are incapable of understanding distinctions.

Life as a teabagger must be very stressfull, and it apparently consists of constantly feigning outrage over any trivial thing that their rightwing media masters order them.

No worries! Message boards provide habitat for the most extremist fringe republicans. This isn't representative of normal people, or even normal republicans - see poll below. It's all good fun to see teabaggers flip somersaults to gin up some fake outrage over bows, birth certificates and death panels. You might as well just go over to Drudges site ever day to see what's going to make teabagger's heads explode.

Americans Overwhelmingly Say Obama Bowing To Japanese Emperor Was Appropriate – Even In A Fox Poll

The numbers: Appropriate 67%, Never appropriate 26%. Even a majority of Republican respondents were okay with the bow, by a 53%-40% margin. Democrats weigh in at 84%-9%, and independents 62%-30%.

I go to Hannity et al to determine what will be the stupidity of the day the next day on this board.
