Trump should have known better than to believe the lying New York Times.
They said he was going to be arrested on a specific date?
A person should not be misled by a story that says "A Manhattan grand jury could decide whether to indict Donald J. Trump in the says ahead." Especially when it is in a source he says is fake news. I don't think he was misled. I think he just tried to use the story for publicity. The Times obviously based the story on some source who did not accurately gage the situation.
Nobody could accurately say if an indictment would occur since they do not know how grand jury members will vote.
The fact that we are discussing it now shows both Trump and the Times achieved their objective--a good story with legs.

1. The constitution can be amended
2. The 5A says a grand jury is required only for a "capital, or otherwise infamous crime."
3. Trump was indicted by the state not the feds. In fact Bragg is just a county DA!!!
None of which changes anything in my post. We are not going to amend the Constitution to get rid of grand juries. They are generally used for felonies at the federal level. Trump must have been indicted based on some NY law (maybe repaying Cohen for the money he gave to Stormy).
Sending Cohen to jail for the crime when he was acting based on Trump's direction does not seem fair. As usual, the pawn is punished while the wealthy perpetrator escapes.
