Hoffman 'unconcedes' in N.Y.-23 House race

Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman has "unconceded" in New York's special House election after reports that the vote margin between him and Rep. Bill Owens (D) has narrowed.

Hoffman conceded the race on Election Night after learning he trailed Owens by 5,335 votes. But the Syracuse Post-Standard reported last week that the margin had shrunk to 3,026 votes after recanvassing.

amusing....but no way will his lead give him a majority

This really isn't the Minnesota senate race. There are far fewer voters, for one thing, and the margin is much larger. No way that 3k votes is going to flip over. Conservatards are just unwilling to accept defeat because they think they have a right to be in power.

So why were 10,000 absentee ballots not counted? Hmmmmm!!

that is what i was wondering....and WM, it is a long shot, if 10,000 votes haven't been counted, it is not a sure thing, you're just being silly as per your usual internet cruising

If all the votes are not counted then the election is not over.

There was a time when people wanted all the votes counted before an erlection was concidered over.

Bush tried to end that one in 2000 and the funny thing was the right was OK with it then.

I'm not an expert in NY election law or anything, but I'm fairly certain that appearing on Glen Beck's radio program and saying you "unconcede" doesn't mean anything, particularly where the guy that you conceded to has already been sworn in.

Right, the article covered that. However, it does say that if he wins in the end, they will remove Owens from office and the other will be sworn in.

BTW - This was just joshing around on the Beck show. He didn't really "unconcede" nor does he expect to win.

I wish you always wanted all the votes counted and NOT just when your guy may win.
Desh, they were counted, and counted, and counted... We're not being hypocrites, nor is anybody expecting this guy to win. Nobody is suing at this time to get more votes counted or recounted for a fourth time or any of that. There are simply 10,000 ballots uncounted, and it is mathematically possible for the election to turn however improbable that result would be so it becomes an interesting topic.

Although it would be funny watching Owens leave office for the person who won the election...
