Attorney fees are money paid for legal work. Paying back a bribe for hush money is an attorney cost. It’s a misdemeanor if it was a simple lie, it’s a felony if it’s done to deceive or hide it. The SOL is 4 or 6 years from the last payment. Additionally the SOL in NY was tolled adding an additional year due to Covid.
But we do not know what he is going to be charged with or what the evidence is yet.
