Russia to try recovering downed US drone, as US vows to 'protect our equities'

A race between the U.S. and Russia is underway to recover the debris of the drone that crashed into the Black Sea.

Russian officials announced Wednesday that operations were underway to collect the debris of the downed U.S. drone — the country has denied responsibility for the incident.

U.S. officials, meanwhile, say a Russian fighter jet clipped the U.S. drone's propeller while traveling in international airspace, causing the crash.

National Security Council coordinator for strategic communications John Kirby told CNN Wednesday that the U.S. military has already moved to "protect our equities" and that they did not want anyone else "getting their hands on [the drone.]"

"Without getting to too much detail, what I can say is that we've taken steps to protect our equities with respect to that particular drone, that particular aircraft and its United States property," Kirby said. "We obviously don't want to see anybody getting their hands on it beyond us.".....

This could get very interesting. The drone still belongs to the US. Russia is trying to steal it.

That is a saying, not an actual law. It has no actual legal validity.

It is interesting how difficult it is for members of the party of trump to be on America's side.
 
Biden took all of our fleet out of the Black sea. It may be hard to prevent the Russians from attempting to recover the drone.

Turkey blocked off US military access to the Black Sea. How does the US plan to retrieve its drone? That drone belongs to Russia now.

The Rhode Island can launch multiple under water missile from under the water. The Kinzhal can't go under water. The Rhode island needs only to locate the drone with its sonar and torpedo it.

Russia owes us $32M and the recovered parts of the drone.

I don't know what will happen. I just heard Xi is on his way to Russia to negotiate a peace plan. Putin agreed but said he would only give Zelensky one bite at the apple.

On Monday, under pressure from Ukraine, Turkey implemented an international law that enabled it to block Russian warships from entering the Black Sea. While the U.S. has welcomed this move
