Trump getting elected again would certainly shock the country but, also the world too?!!

If Donald Trump was not already beyond the pale, his behaviour on 6 January 2021 made sure that he became so. He will not and cannot return for a second term. For goodness sake, even his former vice president, Mike Pence, has denounced him, telling an audience of political journalists: “What happened that day was a disgrace, and it mocks decency to portray it in any other way.”

That just about sums up the view this side of the Atlantic, not just on the Left but among most conservatives, too.

Trump, once widely seen as a grave threat to the world, has all but disappeared off our radars because we cannot conceive of how any decent human being could possibly vote for him following the manner of his departure from office last time around. What support he retains, we like to believe, is on the fringes of US politics.

We couldn’t be more wrong. There is still a year to go before Republicans start to pick their candidate for next year’s p-presidential election. But anyone taking a bet against Trump being the victor in 2024 would be foolish. Slowly but surely, the former president is building a campaign which, like last time around, reaches the parts few other politicians can reach.

The Republican Party is still the party of trump, and I really do not see any way for it to get back to normal any time soon.
 
He stood up for us and for Constitutional order when almost no one else was willing to do it....that earns Trump a great deal.
 
Trump could win in 2024. It would be a disaster for America...and a disaster for the other countries of planet Earth.

But to suppose there are not enough stupid voters in the US to get him elected again would be to underestimate the amount of stupidity here.

Look on the bright side Frank....with any luck you and I will be gone before the worst gets here. I warned my kids, and they are not stupid or lazy, they have a shot at being OK.
 
I think the Democrats will wait for some of the fireworks to end over on the Republican side of the race, before Biden fully commits to running again and passing the torch down to and campaigning for his VP Kamala Harris.

Right now, Trump is in first place. But that is only because DeSantis has not officially entered the race. He is only 5 points down from Trump now, and he hasn't even committed yet. But when he does, he will easily pass Donnie up and become the No. 1 Republican seed. Trump is carrying too much legal baggage now, and is most likely will be tied up in court and that will prevent him from being able to campaign!

This will pretty much force Biden and the Democrats to show their hand.

If Biden decides to endorse Kamala Harris, several other Democrat potentials will throw their hat in the ring. Some 4 or 5 old faces that ran last time and a couple of new faces may show up like Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer.

It will come down to policies. And it looks like most of the Democrats that will be in the race are pretty much all offering the same policies- a continuation of Biden's policies. Bernie's progressive policies will be perhaps the only contrast to all the others. I don't think the election matters on who the Democrat is. Any of them can win and may the best one win!

But the Republicans are chasing Conspiracy theories of CRT, Homosexual Grooming in Public schools, and LGBTQ issues in general, crying about The Border Crisis, and Biden's policies on funding the Ukraine's war efforts, and the Gasoline shortage that it has caused, and running on having more investigations on Democrats, the FBI, and the Justice Department, and of course complaining about inflation.

But, so far, not one Republican running has said how they would fix the inflation problem. And neither Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis will fund the Ukraine any further. No Republican intends to stop the Abortion bans.

So, I do not see how Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis wins. People are really tired of the Conspiracy Theories and most parents have fears about the direction DeSantis and Trump is taking with their intentions of meddling in the Public Schools Systems based on Fox News Conspiracy Theories.

Since the inflation problems are basically the result of Price meets demand, there is no presidential fix for the problem anyway. And 75% of the people that will be voting are against the abortion bans, and most Americans do actually support Biden's funding the Ukraine war efforts, it's going to be a repeat of the 2020 election, and the Democrats will edge the Republicans out once again.

I do feel some hope from the last election when a good number of the candidates he endorsed lost. Now if we can just indict, try, convict, and jail the MFer, maybe there will be hope for that party to return to sanity. First though we also need to dispose of DeSantis, MTG, Boebert, Gaetz, and the rest of the Trump Wannabees.

Biden's failed policies did it......and 45,000 swing voters will be the cause.....

"Constitutional order" requires an orderly transfer of power. If your legal challenges fail you do what your predecessor disappointed candidates have done. You gracefully withdraw. Trump took a shit on Constitutional order.
 
Now that Tulsi Gabbard has become an independent, and now a new cult figure on Fox News for the Trumptards, she will be surely be throwing her hat in the ring by running as an Independent just to shake up the election.

The Republicans have no answer as to how they are going to handle a 3rd party candidate splitting up their voters and hurting their chances of winning in 2024.

This is going to be very interesting!

The bizarre part of the party of trump is it picked trump, not the reverse. It is a paranoid, vengeful base that has been failing badly, and wants revenge. trump is just the destructive criminal to give them their revenge on America.
