BALTIMORE -- A manhunt is ongoing for the one-time chief of staff to former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan.

A federal judge in Baltimore issued an arrest warrant Monday when Roy McGrath was a no-show to Monday's criminal trial. The U.S. Marshals Service is calling him a fugitive.

McGrath is facing charges that he illegally recorded Hogan and stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from state government, including $233,000 from the Maryland Environmental Service, the state agency where he worked before his leading role in the Hogan administration.

It's remarkable that he would risk his freedom, his reputation, his future financial prospects for a payoff that only amounts to about two years of a white collar professional salary.
