If you're not woke, you're asleep

Shout-out to the mighty Al Sharpton for this excellent observation.

Conservatives are better at marketing & messaging. They took "woke" and made it a dirty word. They redefined it.

At it's core, its reference is being more well-informed, more aware and more conscious about political & social issues. Democrats need to push back on the "anti-woke" zeal sweeping through the right-wingers and re-claim the message.

So, Florida is where "woke goes to die?" That means you're ignorant there? You're asleep?

You fucking retards are so "woke" that if a black person isnt sure who they are supporting, then they ain't black. It's almost as if you fucking if you fucking idiots think normal people.are literally asleep and dont actually see how you cockroaches behave. I've never seen a group of idiots so devoid of self awareness as leftist retards.

If I were you I wouldn't want to admit the leader of my racist party is as racist. But it's a racist party so who else would lead it? Do you know what the biggest problem is for you leftists? You open your mouths.

Trump committed treason Jan 6.
If you Support Trump you Support treason.

If trump committed treason why is he still a free man?

Abortion kills babies. If you support abortion then you're a baby killer. See how easy that is? I know you leftist types believe things are true simply because you think them. You know that's not the case right?

Because he hasn't been charged with treason yet!
That in no way gives you a pass for supporting treason.

Do yourself a favour and get a copy of White Guilt: How Blacks and Whites Together Destroyed the Promise of the Civil Rights Era by Shelby Steele. If anybody suffers from White Guilt it's you and a handful of others.

Description
Product Description
"Not unlike some of Ralph Ellison’s or Richard Wright’s best work. White Guilt, a serious meditation on vital issues, deserves a wide readership.” — Cleveland Plain Dealer

In 1955 the killers of Emmett Till, a black Mississippi youth, were acquitted because they were white. Forty years later, despite the strong DNA evidence against him, accused murderer O. J. Simpson went free after his attorney portrayed him as a victim of racism. The age of white supremacy has given way to an age of white guilt—and neither has been good for African Americans.

Through articulate analysis and engrossing recollections, acclaimed race relations scholar Shelby Steele sounds a powerful call for a new culture of personal responsibility.

Review
“For those who do not already know, this elegant essay will show why Shelby Steele is America’s clearest thinker about America’s most difficult problem. Braiding family memories with an acute understanding of national policies, he demonstrates what went wrong when whites for their reasons, and blacks for theirs, embraced the idea that white guilt explains blacks’ problems and can be the basis of policies for ameliorating them.” — Newsweek

“With his characteristic honesty, clarity and hard-won wisdom, Shelby Steele exposes the social hypocrisies and racial lies that transformed the once promising post-civil rights era into a period of cultural decadence and mediocrity. We owe Citizen Steele our thanks. On questions of race in America—white guilt, black opportunism—he is our twenty-first century Socrates: the powerful, lucid and elegant voice of a refreshingly independent thinker who desires only to see us liberated from sophistry and self-destructive illusions.” — Charles Johnson, author of MIDDLE PASSAGE, National Book Award winner

“There is no writer who deserves black America’s allegiance more than Shelby Steele... Steele’s writing is a marvel.” — John McWhorter, National Review

“Breathtakingly insightful . . . Anyone concerned with the endless standoff that is black-white relations in this country has a duty to read Shelby Steele’s brief, brilliant new book, White Guilt.” — Chicago Sun-Times

“Prophet or polemicist, Steele is a graceful and often compelling literary stylist . . . The effect is not unlike some of Ralph Ellison’s or Richard Wright’s best work. White Guilt, a serious meditation on vital issues, deserves a wide readership.” — Cleveland Plain Dealer

“Piercing and personal... White Guilt is a brilliant little essay, deserving of a large and appreciative audience.” — Washington Times

“As delightful a read as one can find on a book devoted to America’s historically most contentious topic. It is a true gift to find a work that combines a light tone and sharp anecdotes to make the reader repeatedly say, ‘Of course!’” — New York Post

“Thought provoking.” — Library Journal

“Steele has given eloquent voice to painful truths that are almost always left unspoken in the nation’s circumscribed public discourse on race.” — New York Times

“A hard, critical look at affirmative action, self-serving white liberals and self-victimizing black leaders.” — Publishers Weekly

“Psychologically brilliant. . . . An autobiographical meditation on why a significant portion of the black population hasn’t been able to take advantage of the freedoms that belatedly came to it.” — New York Sun

“The cultural analysis of America’s loss of moral authority for its exposed racism has resonance today.” — Booklist

“This is an essay. . . but it is no less valuable for that. . . . The struggle is far from resolved. And, as it continues, we are lucky to have Shelby Steele in it.” — Weekly Standard

Transfer of What Legacy Lefties Should Feel Guilty For, Which Is Totally Unrelated to Race

Who told you that Liberals feel guilty? Through the extortion of laws and media propaganda, they want to make all other Whites feel guilty. Their success at that is proved by the fact that nobody answers them with, "So what if I am 'racist'? Racism is realism. It's part of the Survival Instinct. For inferior races, it's part of the Death Wish."

What do you mean by "make changes to their lifestyles?"

Very fair question. Let me offer a long winded answer (feel free not to read it all, haha). (Vox wrote an excellent article on the history of the term and I'm taking a little from that and from what I know.)

The term woke has been around a long time but it came back in vogue following the Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown killings. #staywoke was a thing black people said to each other at the time (this was like 2013-2014)

I can remember first hearing the term around 2015. Around 2017 my white Pastor started talking regularly about the need for us to be a woke church. (He would regularly post on Instagram pictures of Ibram Kendi's How To Be An Anti-Racist book and tell us all we needed to read it.)

Around 2017 - 2018 there was actually pushback from black progressives against wokeness. They said it was too performative and not actually addressing matters that needed to be addressed (basically a virtue signal that you're progress politically with little to nothing behind it). There was also some national pushback against wokeness as cancel culture on college campuses became a big thing (you'll remember President Obama even commented about the troubles of shutting down speakers on campuses).

Not that this board should be a proxy for anything but there were at least a couple of posters here who in 2020 and 2021 said they had never heard the term woke before right-wingers started using it here. Knowing the history of the term and how long it had been in use that's rather surprising thing to admit. But an argument can be made its understandable older people aren't going to be up on everything happening (and that's not a diss).

So the meaning of woke and what it stands for has gone through changes. People on this board in 2023 have tried to give it a definition that was used seven years ago for example. One iteration included fighting against systemic racism. That's where I get into the 'changing of lifestyles'. It's easy to say 'I don't support systemic racism' and 'we should fight against systemic racism' but what are we actually doing about it? Now granted there's only so much each of us as individual's can do but we can all make sacrifices/changes.

The one I speak about most is housing. If you listen to the arguments for reparations, redlining is one of the biggest arguments used. The way we used zoning to create the neighborhoods we all live in was based on racism (so the argument goes). To address that means making big changes. A lot of people don't want to do that. They like their current neighborhood set up, they don't want to hurt their property values, they claim it will be more traffic etc. etc. All excuses to not address the issue they claim to care about.

That's just one example (albeit a big one). That's what I mean by changing their lifestyles.
