The founders wrote a constitution that make our republic too hard to fix if it gets fucked up.

Red states have political influence well beyond what their populations justify,
urban cultural centers are under-represented in comparison,
and so we have the clusterfuck that is todays America.

And with the constitution impossible to amend in a polarized America, nothing will change soon.

They did not anticipate a guy like Trump. The founder thought a president would have self-respect and value the office. They did not think Americans could vote a grifter who does not care about America into office. Trump is not done trying to take over the country.

Trump is far from the only thing wrong with this country.
If he were, he wouldn't be able to do it alone.

The founders basically mistrusted efficient government much the way hard right conservatives do today.
Liberals who revere the constitution really miss the point badly.
It was well intentioned and had an inspiring preamble.
We need to be a little more sophisticated than to be won over by just that.

America can not fix itself because the far left Democratic Socialist loons do not want to fix America.

The person you are describing hasn't been in office for two years (unless you believe him and his cultists).

The last two Republican presidents came to power with fewer votes than their opponents. One of the two managed to get a second term as a "wartime" president - the only Republican presidential majority in over thirty years.

Why would the GOP want to change anything? If they did, they might never have another president.

P.S. The Party of Lincoln has become the Party of Trump. Says it all.

This i can agree with this 100%. I would suggest however the left has proven itself entirely disinterested in compromise and I think republicans seem to believe that if they can compromise wit hthe left. Show me where the left has compromised on anything in the past 5 years.
