Arizona Sues After County Puts an Election Skeptic in Charge of Voting

An Arizona county is being sued by the state’s Democratic attorney general after it transferred voting oversight to the county’s Republican recorder, who has cast doubts about past election results in a place where former President Donald J. Trump won nearly 60 percent of the vote in 2020.

The county’s nonpartisan elections director, Lisa Marra, announced in January that she would resign, citing threats against her after she refused to comply with rogue election directives from the Republicans who control county government, including plans to count ballots by hand after last year’s midterm elections.

This is sick shit.

This kind of thing isn't making big headlines - but election officials all over the country have been resigning due to threats.

MANY have actually had to go into hiding, especially in swing states like GA and AZ.

This has to stop.

You can sue for any lame reason. Do you have proof she didn't have a friend send her phone messages? You need to wait till she wins before you get your panties in a wad. Again do you even have a single shed of evidence that she is being truthful.

She resigned, citing threats. Why in the world would she make that up?

And we've heard dozens of these stories. That poor election worker in GA had to go into hiding because Trump called her out, and the guy in AZ went into hiding recently because Kari Lake did the same.

People who think a local election worker can "rig" an election without a more vast conspiracy are beyond hope. And these threats are real, sadly. The people who work our elections are generally some of the most dedicated & selfless public servants we have. They need our support - not our hate. Honestly, it all makes me sick, and your flippant replies and baseless doubts of her on this thread are pathetic.

Maybe because she was playing loose and fast with election laws and knew she was going to be canned anyway.

Or, as reported, she refused to break the law by releasing the ballots for a full handcount, per demands from some election-denying Republicans. Which a judge later confirmed by ruling that it would have been illegal.
