Most Americans know that Jan 6 was a riot and insurrection but the MAGA crowd deny it because it's their way of supporting Trump.
Agreed. The last elections proved most Americans agree by voting against MAGA.
It's a habit of political extremists to exaggerate so they always claim every single vote was "for" them and will never admit the percentage of voters voting "against" the opposition.
I voted as a Republican for decades. Initially "for", but later as an "against" Democratic Party anti-militarism. When the Republican Party turned openly racist by refuting the "Growth & Opportunity Project" after 2012, that's when I realized my Republican Party of personal accountability and fiscal responsibility had left me. There was no way I could continue to support the Republican Party in good conscience.
If the Democrats ever matured enough to seek helping to fix problems instead of seeking to limit Americans, I'd vote for them. Of course, this means they have to move right of middle left. Like over the line. Not much. Just enough to drop the banning bullshit.
Stupid people should be understood to be stupid. That's the way they are. Tolerance for stupidity, like everything else, should be given to all fellow citizens. The line is where one group advocates harm against others. Lying about them such as "
All Jews are Christ-Killers" is a form of advocating harm. If someone says "
I believe all Jews are Christ-killers since the Romans crucified him at Herod's request and I don't believe God should be recognized for giving his only son to forgive us for our sins.", then the person is being completely honest. I have no problem with honesty, no matter how repugnant.
In the end,
it's a matter of choice.
I strongly support individual choice, AKA Free Will, up to the limit of committing harm or attempting to harm other Americans.
Example: I have no problem with Americans volunteering to kill Russians in Ukraine. I do have a problem with just killing Russian civilians at random in their own country.
