Can Fox regain any credibility?

Admittedly I don't watch either channel but in this world of ours with social media its hard not to see clips from time to time. What I see in clips from both channels is mostly trash. Maybe its a small sample size and I'm just seeing the fringe stuff but I don't think so. These channels aren't the CNN of my youth "the most trusted name in news". They are out for ratings and they do it by appealing their bases on the left and right. We used to go home and everyone pretty much watched the same nightly news. Now we go into our corners and watch stations that give us confirmation bias and tell us how everyone else is the enemy etc.

There's not a lot positive coming from either channel and they are a big contributor to the country's division. Trying to debate which is worse than the other misses the forest for the trees.

I disagree...totally and enthusiastically.

I never heard a commentator on MSNBC question that Trump won the 2016 election. There may have been a comment or two doing that, but I never heard one. And certainly there never was a years long commitment to suggesting that the election was stolen. FOX, on the other hand, has promoted the absurd claim that the election was stolen from Trump for over two years now.

And what FOX is attempting to do with that horrible thing that happened on 12/6 at the Capitol...suggesting it was just a peaceful demonstration...is disgusting...and has no counterpart over at MSNBC or CNN...or anywhere sane, for that matter.

CA, there are some things (granted, just a few) on which we have agreed, but on this one, it is you who is allowing the trees to prevent you from seeing the forest.

THERE IS NO REASONABLE COMPARISON BETWEEN WHAT FOX IS DOING...AND WHAT MSNBC OR CNN HAS BEEN DOING.

Bias and lies are not the same thing.
Spin and lies aren't even quite the same thing.
Like myself, MSNBC has clear bias.

Fox, in contrast, is routinely caught in outright fabrications.
Plus, on a purely personal note, I find their on-air people to be mostly repugnant.
That's probably the more important thing.

I don't like all of the MSNBC people, either.
I often find Joy Reid annoying. She really got on the wrong side of me during the 2020 Democratic primary season,
and hasn't done much to change my opinion of her.

I don't like CNN much, because I'm not an in-the-middle kind of person and the more palatable MSNBC is available.

As to what's completely true, that's not directly available to us in either electronic or print media.
We need to get an overall picture and then decide what seems the most logical to us.

That's the main reason that I don't get hung up on individual stories but prefer to look at a wide angle picture of what's happening.

I think much along the lines you are thinking here, Nifty.

One thing, though. I also had a very poor impression of Joy Reid early on...and she still is not my favorite. But one thing I will say in her favor (AND HEAVILY IN HER FAVOR) is that she is the one interviewer on MSNBC (on all of television) who gives all of her guests lots of time to give an answer...WITHOUT THE CONSTANT INTTERUPTING that many of the interviewers do. Nichole Wallace and Ari Melber are prime examples. Neither will allow a guest to finish a thought without an interruption...often a silly, stupid interruption. Joy Reid normally allows them to finish a thought.

That's an excellent point, Frank. I'll watch for that.

yes, unconstitutional elections do tend to sour people......some of them were angry enough to protest on January 6........

Gee, I'm sure SCOTUS will address that election if it was unconstitutional. Do you know if anyone has thought of looping them in on that?

Btw - not even pillow guy, or Trump, or any of the nutty election deniers cite "unconstitutional."

How can you be college educated and watch MSNBC?

I watch some shows/anchors on all 3 networks (CNN, MSNBC & Fox). It's not like it's all extreme lefty or righty - there is always some bias, but there is also a lot of great discussion, coverage & commentary.

I know what I'm getting w/ each network. I happen to be discerning, so know when it veers into bias & propaganda. I think some viewers don't see that line.

Everything we knew about them has now been exposed. They're a campaign arm for the RNC, chose ratings over truth and spent years pushing propaganda for Trump because they were so afraid of him.

As of today, I don't really understand how anyone can trust anything that they hear on that network.

I think they can make it back - but they need new faces. I'm not even sure why some of their personalities are still on the air.

Thoughts?
Can’t lose what you never had!

Let me just say this- I will not apologize for watching mostly CNN, MSNBC, and occasionally PBS for general national news. I will also watch the 5:30 PM ABC, NBC, and CBS national news programs.

I do not believe in the term Liberal Media- Or perhaps I should say I do not believe there is an entity, that exists, that can be nailed down or limited to only broadcasting news that maintains a liberal bias.

NO Sir! The proper term is Main-Stream media.

I DO believe in the term RESPONSIBLE MEDIA- and also Irresponsible Media.

Between the hours of 4:00 AM - 7:00 PM, I even consider Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC to all be Main-Stream Media.

But after 7:00 PM, Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC has Politically opinionated based programs that are also politically biased programming.

Can Fox regain any credibility? Yes if they come clean about pushing Trump's election lies, by saying Fox knew Trump had lost the election but we push the big lie anyway for ratings, money and to appease Trump?!! We are firing the following Fox News personnel, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Tucker Carlson and paying the Dominion lawsuit?!!

Asking if they can regain credibility says they had some. They were not designed to give news, but a right-wing slant. That was their mission. They have admitted that many times.

Except even their straight news ignores certain stories to help the Republicans lie and cheat in elections

You have to have credibility at one time to regain it. Fox has never had credibility. I laughed when Sean Hannity and other FoxNews clowns spoke at Trump rallies.

If that doesn't spell BIAS with a capital 'B', I don't know what does.

Imagine if Don Lemon or Rachel Maddow spoke at a Biden rally. The MAGA morons would have a panty-wetting hissy fit.
