The Ultimate Goal of Democrats is finally being realized

America's low labor participation rate 'a social and economic disaster,' experts warn

Economists are sounding the alarm over millions of would-be workers refusing to return

By now it's common knowledge that the U.S. saw an unprecedented drop in labor participation at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 as health concerns, lockdowns and stimulus payments caused tens of millions to abandon or forfeit their jobs.

But three years later, millions still haven't returned – including many who quit in the middle of their prime working years – and some economists are sounding the alarm that so many capable, would-be earners remain out of the workforce.

When the Labor Department reported last month that unemployment dropped to 3.4% in January, the lowest level in more than 50 years, not all experts were celebrating.

If someone chooses not to work, they have their own reasons. Why does it have to be political?

if on subsidy or welfare it is political, i know two couples drawing $80k off various programs so they don't have to work, they should be cut off immediately

Labor participation rates are higher today than when trump left office, but in those days you never said a word about it.
Furthermore, labor participation has been on the decline for over 20 years.

Yet food stamp and welfare rolls are not commensurately higher, so what's your point? If they are able to get by w/o working, why do you care? Maybe their partner makes enough to allow them to stay home and take care of their kids. Maybe they saved enough to retire early.

Then again, your source is Fox so who knows what half-truths and bullshit lies within. Let's look at an actual credible source, the govt. agency charged with tracking this stuff. Hmm. Looks like the participation rate is almost back up to pre-pandemic levels.

if they yare drawing a taxpayer funded subsidy it should stop, welfare fraud is alive and well under democrats as they crave a dependent society

Hilarious. The labor participation rate reflects the fact that fewer women and teenagers are working today than they were 20 years ago, and the fact the boomers are now retiring. The male participation rate has been falling since the 1960s. Not one single Trump poster here even understands what the labor participation rate is. They are just parroting what they here, without even putting ONE of their own words in the post.

You have no evidence that they are living off the govt. teat though. You just wanted to start a discussion blaming Democrats. You're biased and blind.

Always found it interesting how during the Obama Presidency “labor participation rates” were suddenly the new economic indicator the right scapegoated against Obama’s shrinking unemployment rates. Never heard of them during the Bush era, nor while Trump was President, but beginning in 2021, they were again all the rave on the right

There are numerous explanations for the LPR, a huge one being the aging of the Boomers, but when unemployment is still at good numbers, it hardly indicates a move to a “dependent society”

They want to assume that the participation rate is down because more and more ppl are drawing welfare/food stamp benefits. Yet they have zero evidence of that.

The lower participation rate was predicted decades ago, based on Boomers retiring.

Nice story, but your claims that anyone can legally not work and draw $80K from Uncle Sam would be news to the 38M Americans living in poverty.

https://www.census.gov/newsroom/stories/poverty-awareness-month.html
  • The official poverty rate in 2021 was 11.6 percent, with 37.9 million people in poverty. Neither the rate nor the number in poverty was significantly different from 2020 (Figure 1 and Table A-1).
  • Official poverty rates decreased for people under the age of 18 and increased for people 65 years and older, but were not statistically different for 18- to 64-year-olds (Figure 2 and Table A-1).

one has to be paying attention, they can't be stupid fucks like you

Poverty stricken Red states are sustained by Democrats, dimwit.

another lie. Liberal states write in legislation allowing citizens massive deductions on interest and other things eliminating the huge bills that should be paid. Trump eliminated some of that cutting the tax deduction to 10k on interest.
