A new rocket that would double Ukraine's strike range in its war with Russia was included in a $2.175 billion U.S. military aid package, the Pentagon said on Friday.

The new weapon, the Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB), will allow Ukraine's military to hit targets at twice the distance reachable by the rockets it now fires from the U.S.-supplied High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).

The 151 km (94 mile) GLSDB will put all of Russia's supply lines in eastern Ukraine within reach, as well as part of Russian-occupied Crimea, which Moscow annexed in 2014.

"As part of the USAI package, we will be providing Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb to Ukraine," Brigadier General Patrick Ryder told a news briefing at the Pentagon. USAI stands for Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).

Friday's aid pledge opens the door to many more deliveries of the Ground Launched Small Diameter Bombs (GLSDB).

When the new rockets arrive, it will mark the first time Ukraine has seen its rocket range grow exponentially since U.S. furnished HIMARS in late-June 2022.

HIMARS have a 77 km (48 mile) range and were instrumental in Ukraine's counter offensive against Russian forces, which invaded on Feb. 24, 2022......

This is going to be a huge problem for Russia. Ukraine can now blow up almost every Russian ammo dump in Ukraine. That will be a huge logistics problem for Russia.

Putin has given up trying to conquer and capture significant amounts of more Ukraine territory and is just aiming to win a war of attrition, which he hopes will sap western resolve.

Hopefully this isn't like the Spanish Civil War that proceeded WW 2

Hopefully. But can you imagine Russian winning and be embolden with it's "defeat" on NATO by proxy. And what happens if Russian controls Ukraine wheat production. Russia has used energy as a weapon of war and they would not hesitate to use food as a weapon.

There's serious intelligence that Belarus is Putin's next target followed by Moldova.

The more body bags showing up in Mother Russia, the more likely the families of the deceased will question why their loved ones are dead.

Putin, the Russian MOD, and Wagner seem to do most of their recruiting in rural Russia and in the autonomous ethnic republics. The goal seems to be to spare the citizens of Moscow and Saint Petersburg any real pain.

Nonetheless, the longer this goes on, the more Russian assets, including citizens, will be diverted to to war effort.

At some point, recruiting from certain areas will have an impact on products of those areas such as manpower to work fields, textile industries, transportation, etc.

The antiwar activists and democratic opposition are all in prison or living abroad. Putin seems to have convinced 60 percent of Russians that even if starting the war was a bad idea, at this point Mother Russia cannot tolerate the humiliation and risk of losing the war outright.

I'm not sure how long those dynamics hold.

By even conservative estimates, Russia has lost at least half of its tanks. That's truly incredible and tells you much about how incompetent the Russians are.

IMO, it would take the removal of Putin to alter the social equation. That might happen if Putin decides to go nuclear.

Putin needs to go! I don't think he has the Support of the Russian people

How does the US plan on getting these longer-range rockets into Ukraine? Yall been watching too much msm propaganda. Putin is blowing up everything coming into Ukraine, including western mercenaries. Zelensky will be begging for peace negotiation before next winter. If not, Russia will cut off Ukraine's access to the Black Sea.

A good excuse for the Chinese to add to Russia's conventional arsenal.
Biden is a very stupid man.
