Republicans calling for succession…

Oh, you poor things. The "tyranny" is just too much for y'all?

We live more free lives than roughly 99% of the people who ever existed on the planet earth. Maybe some have a hard time affording that 75" TV, but otherwise, people can do basically whatever they want.

so why do you deny american exceptionalism constantly?

It should be embarrassing for ANYONE who has seen the last 16 years of crap in our nation to believe that you have anything close to freedom. When one has to worry about retribution from a government entity for doing or saying something they don't like, that is not freedom, that's tyranny.

the founders said it best when they said that 'liberty is when the government fears the people, tyranny is when the people fear the government'. Tyranny can also be defined as 'that which the government can do, but the people cannot'.

None of this makes sense to me.

What do you want to do that you're not able to do?

I'm not saying no one's rights are infringed from time to time. But that's the beauty of America; there is legal recourse and political action people can take when they're not getting what they want or need. We are insanely far from anything that could be described as "tyranny." Americans in 2023 would not be able to cope with living under an actual tyrannical regime. We are too soft.

In January 1848 he said: “Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better.”

Then start your race war putin ass miner

See how quick you get dead

being forced to take pfizer death jab.

Our government provides totally legal ways to change or even abolish it.

If the majority of Americans want to change or abolish our government,
they can legally do it,
within the provisions of the current constitution,
and the process begins with free and fair elections.

If others choose to do it by revolution, they either win or face the consequences.
I'm not sure that the consequences are nearly as draconian as they should be.

Everybody seems to be getting just three years.
Still, three years in prison is no walk in the park.

If anyone supports Marjorie Taylor Greene and her idea to create a separate Redlandia, join her & see how it goes.

The idea that whatever she has in mind reflects any idea of "freedom" that we're used to is laughable. You want to see actual oppression? Let crazy right-wingers create their own state.

Freedom for a few wealthy white Christian people

Red and Blue states impacting one another's laws and tax codes--this dynamic is the cause of our instability and rage.

I'm one from the LEFT who believes we should consider partition.
America will collapse from "true believerism."
Ninth grade civics class didn't describe what we've really got going on.

Always striking how someone pulls a quote from a historical figure and projects it as if it represents what that person believed his/her entire life. The vast majority of historical figures prior to mass media were prolific authors, look hard enough and you can often find some quote from some figure to defend any position you are framing

For example, two quotes from Jefferson: “were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter,” and at another time, “the sooner the press goes away, the better society will be.”

Err. That is in the preamble to the constitution. I know you alt lefties hate this country but there are options for you....

Also says “unalienable right…… of life,” which many view of guns makes the right threatened just by going grocery shopping or attending school

We'd have to bifurcate the country because most of the red states are in the middle, and again, a good number of the red states are only that way by slim margins. It would needlessly complicate so many things, like Brexit turned up to 11. Would we even let the red states use our currency? Would red states withhold agriculture out of spite?

Personally, I don't think it could be worse than the clusterfuck we have now.
Selling agriculture to blue states means not letting the crops wither on the vine and not going without money.

I don't have an inflated opinion of red state intelligence, but they can't be that stupid.

They could have their white Christian handmaid state, we could finally embrace modernity without their impedance, and more people should be happy than are now.
We'll never get it perfect, but what we have now is untenable.

yet, for all the posturing by those on the left and the right who believe that only THEY know what the founders were thinking, they miss the most damning thing of all. All of those politicians believed in unobstructed liberty and freedom until they realized that it limited their power when in office................so one should consider what time period their words are uttered to see how they truly felt.
