It’s my guess that if Biden announces, he’ll be the nominee and if Biden is the nominee, a Republican will be elected President in November 2024…and it won’t be Trump.

The bad news for the Democrats is that they have too many wackadoodles, incompetents and other idiots leaving Biden as their only choice.

Um, it's pretty safe to say President Biden will not be doing that. Harris isn't very popular in the first place and she isn't going to be able to get anything accomplished with a hostile House. If president Biden did as you propose it would be pretty much handing 2024 to the Republican primary winner.

Biden has challenges. He was forced to select Harris in an attempt inspire black voters. The problem is she's not popular at all. With Pete Buttigieg as VP he would have an intelligent, accomplished successor in the event of tragedy. With Harris, he has a terrible politician who simply cannot run a national campaign.

It's a needle he'll have to thread, and it will be interesting to see if they work on Harris' image in the next year.

Unfortunately the nation still has a weakness for Trump's isolationism and hatred of liberals. DeSantis has a large following with that and features a lack of scandals and somewhat softer rhetoric. Right wing propaganda is very effective. DeSantis is dovetailing legislative and executive action towards that. It's a vote-getter up to a point. That point is diminishing and he has a big problem with racism. The 2024 election may come down to a referendum on racism. If it does, DeSantis will have a tough time. Obviously his strategy is to go hard right until the primaries and then try to shift toward the middle after becoming the nominee. But his racist past will dog him in the general.

Can a president fire a vice president? Or would it be necessary to run for a second term with another selection...

If he ditched her he would be trading black support for gay support. Maybe not wise. I don't think he can get away with ditching her.

He's building quite a foundation in his state, which is exactly what will keep him from winning on the national level. Book bans/outlawing black history/anti abortion/no gun restrictions/fighting Disney/oversensitive when challenged...all issues that gave Dems a great mid terms.

He'll never get the necessary Independent vote based on those disqualifiers. That doesn't even address his horrible Covid track record, but that won't be an issue in '24

He can't run from that atrocious COVID record. Those who took the pandemic with the seriousness it so rightfully deserved were appalled at DeSantis' callousness in favoring the selfish over protecting the vulnerable.

It is a vote-getter of the selfish vote but not the middle. A lose for DeSantis.

I've been kind of wondering why she hasn't been more public until now. I would expect her to become more prominent in the lead-up to '24 in order to improve her image.

Exactly. As we type, Red states across the country are ramming through ridiculous anti American laws. The more they act to prove that the Right is out of touch with the majority of the nation, the worse they will do in '24
