The state's governor declined federal help. Then he changed his mind. Now the EPA is mobilizing. I don't think anyone looks good in this situation. If the citizens need help, then we need to get them help immediately. If they're lying because they're MAGA conspiracy theorists, then they should be charged and then (because they won't be able to pay it) jailed for the associated costs.
