American teens are unwell because American society is unwell

Kids are unwell. Worse than ever recorded, according to two new reports tracing depression and suicidal thoughts and behaviors in teens. There is a frantic search for ways to stop kids from hurting. But if we want to make any lasting difference, it is us, the adults, who need an intervention.

Solutions start with compassionate, radical honesty: American kids are unwell because American society is unwell. The systems and social media making teenagers sad, angry and afraid today were shaped in part by adults who grew up sad, angry and afraid themselves.

Trump and GOP fascism will have long lasting effects.

"Which brings us to the adults. One in 5 — nearly 53 million people — had a mental illness in 2020, ranging from anxiety to depression to bipolar disorder. Nearly 28 million adults had an alcohol use disorder. As many as 3 in 100 people will have a psychotic episode in their lives. We are running companies and the country, serving time and raising families, and we, too, need a sense that we are cared for, supported and belong.

Maybe we shouldnt tell people born with penises that they can be a girl. Or that men can have babies. Maybe that has some impact on how fucked up some kids might be. Or maybe its just leftists pussies in general that have taught kids to think if they have been offended then they are victims. Kids have no tolerance for disagreement whatsoever thanks to people like you.

Your brain is so simple. It seems to barely work at all.

And you think that's because of trump and the GOP and if it wasn't for them America would be a place of peace love and harmony? You think like a 4 year old. Im not being mean or sarcastic. If you really think the cause of that is trump and the GOP you have a serious intellectual deficit.

Trump ain't got nothing to do with the "unwellness" of today's teens. Jiminy Christmas....

LOL.

Best book I've read in a long time is:

The Coddling of the American Mind: How Good Intentions and Bad Ideas Are Setting Up a Generation for Failure

it's by Greg Lukianoff and Johnathan Haidt

Amazing read and really hit home for me having a young one. But even for those without children they talk about how social media and even parenting styles have really changed things for kids. They are Professors and spoke about how they saw a change in students who arrived on campus in a specific year (maybe 2013 or 14?) and how it coincided with them growing up with social media tools.

I'm not doing it justice in my description but its a must read IMO.
