Is the Super Bowl, like July 4th, still a patriotic celebration of National Pride?

Bigdog

Harris - make America a 3rd world shithole
In the past, we've seen many patriotic symbols at Super Bowls, such as the unfurling of giant U.S. flags, military fly overs, honoring of military branches and those who have served, ... and lots of red, white and blue.

Does the Super Bowl still invoke feelings of national pride?

For me, there are two kind of Super Bowls.

If the Patriots are playing,
the game is a symbol of East Coast Elitist Pride,
and I root for them as if they were actually doing something important.

If the Patriots are not playing, I might have the game on for background noise
if I have nothing better to do,
but there's no way I'll remain awake during it.

I expect that it will be homosexuals, trans, LGBQXYZ and other forms of perversion celebrated.

I will watch the football but not the halftime.

Concussion ball is fading. The Superbowl and Monday night football were once huge and dominated the viewership. Now millions watch Puppy Bowl. Som people watch for the commercials and the half time entertainment.

sports. who cares

This is a personal issue but hard to get excited about the Super Bowl after the 49ers lost.

As far as football and the culture wars you have folks who think the NFL has gone woke and folks who think the NFL is racist AF. I suppose one might say you can make arguments for both cases.

Didn’t know the Super Bowl was suppose to be some “patriotic celebration of National Pride.” Last I knew, it was the NFL championship game, a party occasion in the middle of winter, and little else, most people couldn’t tell you who won it last year

It is a huge business event. It is all about money. They use the military to sanction concussion ball. I never thought about patriotism. I thought about my bets.

Why should it? This isn't an international competition.

Our tax dollars are wasted on the flyovers, patriotic symbols, etc.. It's meant as a recruitment tool. I'd rather see the money spent elsewhere.

Yup. It enables the women and kids of the house to have an interest, even if they don't follow sports. The commercials are as big a draw as the game.

He's butt hurt because his state has no professional teams. At all.

Nobody thinks about patriotism in any sporting event that isn't international. Why would they?

If by 'Socialist Authoritarians' you mean 'The Military Industrial Complex', then you are correct.

I do not mean the MIC. Though it was our greatest socialist president and only dictator, FDR, that created the MIC.
