What is it you think caused inflation?

Yes, that too.

We have a seriously underregulated private sector.

Most of the problem comes from the fact that the private sector is allowed to just make up excuses for raising prices in order to make record profit.

A real, functioning democracy would drag all those CEO's before Congress in order to produce legislation to reign in their out of control greed.

You are ignoring the reality. He said he was going to do it when Trump was president, it was the right thing to do... Trump threatened to fire him then said demote him, Powell backed off until Biden was president.

Wow. I think I see the disconnect here. You don't actually care about Powell or the Fed's actions. This is all about Trump vs. Biden and now that you mistakenly thought the President controlled QE and how its run, and somehow thought you were scoring points for Biden, you are stuck having to go back to partisanship that really has nothing to do with decisions being made today.

Because the idea of nuance is lost on a lot of people. And on a board like this, people see things only in absolutes because that's what partisans often do. The folks who think Biden is 100% responsible are wrong and those who think Biden played no role are wrong as well.

Sure, Biden did play a major role, as did Trump, overloading the economy with money, however, there are an array of other factors outside the political arena that played, and still are playing, a major role

I've never said otherwise. It's why I said there is nuance. Inflation is not driven by a single factor or single individual.

I know much of this board is trolling, so a lot of things have to be taken with a grain of salt, but it's almost frightening reading some of the responses ITT and people who think fiscal and monetary policy play no role and who is responsible for what etc.

Now, it's understandable people would be less familiar with monetary policy because we don't vote for Fed members and monetary policy usually doesn't come up in cocktail party conversations. But the ignorance is still astounding.

Wow, you are lost.

I am because I clearly can't follow you. I responded to your claim that Biden ended QE, which he didn't (President's don't control QE). Then you went on some tangent above Trump unrelated to the topic and I still don't know the point you are trying to make.

Biden cant control it, but Trump did?

So Trump was able to bully Powell, but because Biden didn’t try he didn’t have that power? You misunderstand legally allowed to control v. Control.

I'm still not sure if this is all one big troll or you really don't understand monetary policy and how the Fed works (or possibly both). You want Biden to be praised for not asking Powell to continue a policy that exacerbated inflation.

You have to understand people's incentives. This is somewhat of a rhetorical question, please explain why you think Biden would want to continue monetary policy that promoted inflation. (I know the answer to the doves position but I'm curious if you know it).

The same reason Trum wanted it continued, short term gain.

Am I understanding your whole position here is he should receive credit for not trying to jawbone the Fed into increasing inflation even higher? (which is what would have happened had Powell not gotten off his *ss and finally done something)

It is taught in high school, of course, a lot of things we all learned years ago have been forgotten

And I see where USC basketball beat UCLA second time around, and still have another shot at Arizona, but interesting they only have a 57 NET ranking, school has to get Riley to share some of his NIL big spending sponsors

The UCLA win was huge, we needed that big time. We got waxed by Oregon last night which was disappointing. If the season ends today we are in the tournament but with another couple of losses we could easily fall out.

Most 'SC fans are very appreciated of what Andy Enfield has done. We're a football blue blood and attendance at basketball games has been awful for decades. On top of that our cross town arch rivals are a basketball blue blood. Despite that we have something like the fifth most kids in the NBA of any school and have been pretty consistently making the tournament, including that Elite 8 run two years ago.

No one is under the impression that Enfield is an elite coach but at the same time he's done a hell of a job.

N.I.L is a work in progress. Won't happen overnight but behind the scenes there's a group trying to put things together for the school.
