Basically they get some cheap advertisement, folks get a thrill, people get to know that now women can participate in combat specialties and that means they can become fighter pilots. I always thought it was crazy that one of the most effective fighting forces that I know (Israel's IDF) has had women in these positions since the 1990s. TDAK I'm sure would think that means they suck, but they really are quite impressive. I once got a ride in an F14 flown by an Israeli fighter pilot who happened to be female back in the late 90s, one of the most awesome things ever. I certainly was not going to turn down that opportunity just because she was a "girl"...
