Some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security to Sunset

Senator Rick Scott, a member of McConnell’s leadership team and in charge of the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, released an 11-point plan that includes raising taxes on nearly half of Americans and ending the Medicare and Social Security guarantee.

Let’s be clear: Rick Scott laid out his blueprint for the American people – raising taxes for half the country, including seniors and retirees – and everyone from elected Republicans to Senate candidates are lining up to support it:

Senator Ron Johnson: “It’s a positive thing.”

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel: “Republicans like Senator @ScottforFlorida have real solutions to put us back on track.”

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel: “Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel also endorsed Scott’s 11-point plan, telling the Daily Caller it is full of actual solutions to help the U.S.”

Senator Mike Braun: “Independents are the individuals that elect the swing-state senators and the president, and I think they want something other than no or I’m not interested… I’m glad Rick did it. Nothing is going to be perfect…we’ve got to be for something.”

Senator Marco Rubio: “I think it’s good that people offer ideas.”

Newt Gingrich: “I strongly endorse the direction Sen. Scott is taking in the Senate, and that Leader Kevin McCarthy is taking in the House. Both men understand that a political party has to stand for something and not simply campaign against the other side.”

Senator Tommy Tuberville: “On board” with Scott’s blueprint

Congressman Matt Gaetz: “Proud of @SenRickScott for producing this bold agenda!”

Politico: “Those who agree with his decision to put out an agenda — a group that includes senior officials at the RNC — say that donors and GOP voters are eager for a forward-looking agenda laying out what Republicans will do if they win. There’s a concern about a repeat of 2017, when Republicans, after running on repealing Obamacare, had basically no plan to realize that promise.”

Senator Joni Ernst: “I think every Republican, as we step forward, will determine what is in the best interest for their own party dynamics within their states and defending what we believe to be true, liberty, freedom, you name it, that’s what we are for.”

Fox 8 WGPH: North Carolina Senate candidate Ted Budd “generally agreed with some of [the Scott plan’s] major points.”

Pennsylvania Senate Candidate Mehmet Oz on Scott’s proposal: “He also has a vision for what the party can do going forward’”

Arizona Senate Candidate Jim Lamon: “Rick [Scott] called the other day, I said, ‘Dude, you go on my website?’ You know, it looked awful familiar, right?’”

Never heard of a trustees report concerning SS.
Regardless, the gubmint Ponzi scheme will continue to work only if there's an increase in population that pays taxes. The Ponzi scheme will always be there , but if a tax paying population ever decreases in relation to the retirement population, the retirees get screwed.

Read the trustees report.

Unless a person is self employed,
And there's a lot of self employed folks out there. Good to see you understand that we were fucked over. There's also a lot of lifetime employees (those that would take the time to study and understand their options), would opt for a privatized SS.

The ones who need it the least. Why not let hem buy lottery tickets?

As a mostly self employed person the cost of my services always reflected the need to pay the entire payroll tax.

Slounds like you're equating investing in the market w/ gambling. Although I'll agree that day trading is gambling. But I'm talking about real investing.

And they would be broke at retirement.

We aren't fucked over. The investment just isn't the same as for those who are employees who automatically double their money in every paycheck.

What happens to the millions who retired in '08 when their investments vanished?

Sure...with time the market comes back. But you are drawing down your principal every month upon retirement

Good for him. That's two pubs that had balls. The rest of them can eat shit.
We both know that it's more than two. Every single Republican would vote to kill what they call 'entitlements' the first time they had the chance to vote. Biden was a genius. He effectively made it impossible for McCarthy to bring the MAGAmoron's plan to a vote.

And the argument seems to be that you can't pay half of your FICA, and still have enough to invest with? Does everyone spend half of their paycheck on cigarettes?

Entitlements are for freeloaders. Medicaid, welfare, SNAP. Something for nothing. SS and Medicare are programs we pay into and get less out of than what we paid.

How many people have that skill? Not many. And the ones that do will get the money of the ones that don’t. We have mechanisms for people to invest in the market. Social security will become nothing but a predatory program. I can see the ads now. It’s a HORRIBLE idea.

It was never going to go anywhere because most people now understand that it is too late to reform out of economic collapse.......they ride this train till the crash.....hopping that it is not today.
