Biden’s ‘but Trump!’ deceptive balloon defense deflates

Joe Biden continues to think he can get away with anything, as long as he claims to be better than Donald Trump. Now he’s trying it with national security.

Is a Chinese balloon floating over the continental United States from end to end an embarrassment?

Sure — but, but, but, say anonymous administration officials, Trump had a balloon too. Many balloons!

No one saw those Trump-era spy balloons, and US officials knew nothing about them. But Biden’s unnamed officials learned all about them after Trump was out of office.

How? When?

Biden doesn’t feel the need to say, even as the story of the surveillance device that he let drift across the country soars to the top of the week’s headlines.

The administration has given Congress some information on earlier Chinese balloons encroaching near the coasts of Florida and Texas. But what are the precedents for such a well-identified floating object getting all the way from Alaska to South Carolina?

Is there anything Team Biden won’t drag ex-President Donald Trump into as a butt-covering maneuver?

In this case, the embarrassment was the Chinese spy balloon fiasco. And the butt-covering was the “leak” from a “defense official” that balloons from Beijing entered US airspace at least three times in the Trump years.

Except that Trump and a pack of top ex-Trump officials then all insisted they’d never been briefed on such incursions — and word came out that the incidents went undetected until the then-prez left office.

So our defense geniuses missed multiple earlier violations completely at the time. And on this round, they spotted the craft at some point, but Team Biden opted to keep it from the American public until regular citizens spotted it.

John and Jane Q. Public remain in the dark on a host of crucial questions:

When exactly did the balloon first enter US airspace? The official line says Jan. 28 — but why should we take our chronically dishonest intel establishment’s word for it? And why wasn’t the public widely alerted straightaway?

Plus: When did the feds actually spot it? If it was Jan. 28, why wasn’t President Biden briefed until it reached Idaho on Jan. 31?

If the balloon required shooting down — as Biden seems to have immediately admitted — why did Team Biden first let it range more than 4,000 miles across the country? The administration’s argument, about risks from debris, holds zero water when huge swaths of that territory are so sparsely populated.

Is it true that they took no action and kept it a secret for fear of derailing Secretary of State Tony Blinken’s now-postponed trip to China?

If the claims about Trump-era incursions are true, why did neither the White House nor Pentagon make them public before Biden had his own spy-balloon crisis? Were our leaders that reluctant to “offend” China by letting the American people know that Beijing’s pulling this crap? Or afraid to admit that earlier balloons succeeded?

And last but not least:

What steps is the Biden team taking now to ensure no similar violations of our sovereignty by China “go undetected” ever again? How are we improving our military-intel response to such threats?​

The Chinese drone was discovered and shot down. Its machinery was found and we possess it. How can that be bad? Oh, I know, Biden did it.
 
What's even worse is that the Trump team didn't even know the balloons were floating above the USA, about par for their competence

you seem to have overlooked Biden taking credit for creating a more secure system which for the first time enables us to notice when China invades US air space......
 
Funny cause if Biden had shot down the ballon earlier and the falling debris killed someone, especially in some Red State, the MAGA militia would be in the same uproar, saying he had little concern for human life

Oh so you think it is good that it hovered over three different nuclear facilities and took pictures and electronic data as long as no one is critical of Biden. Have you always been an idiot or is it a recent brain injury thing?
