I'm against giving a child any elective surgery..and not even sure about 18 year olds but at least that's the legal age of consent.
I'm also surprised any doctor who took the Hippocratic Oath would consent to do this surgery.
OTOH, there are "doctors" on JPP who recommend HCQ, Ivermectin and bleach over COVID vaccine, so unethical doctors do exist.
Agreed. The parents are responsible for the care of their child. If anything, the child should be suing them.
That said, the parents rely upon the medical advice of doctors. If they received bad advice, then that's a problem.

Agree. I was thinking that if there was a real fear the girl would kill herself, the parents could commit her to an institution for her own well-being. Not permanent commital, but until she wasn't deemed to be a danger to herself.
Do you recall several years ago when a mother okayed elective plastic surgery on her little daughter who has Down syndrome? I"m still searching for the specific article but apparently facial reconstructive surgery on these kids is a thing in some circles.

Most of the problems such children face are external; mostly peers and fucking douchebags as seen on JPP, ,sometimes parents themselves. Removing that child from such a harsh environment would be the first step.
As whistleblower Frances Haugen pointed out, cyberbullying is pushed by Facebook since it generates activity but the harm it creates on children is literally deadly.
LGBTQ kids would be less inclined to feel like outsiders if they weren't constantly being harassed in person and online. Isolating the kid from both is one action, but they still need social interaction.
