Biden just lets the one over America gather what ever info it is getting

That is a threat to national security

There's a reason other than the one given for why we're not shooting it out of the sky. My guess, is that there's some kind of "booby trap" if we do. The just don't want to panic the public.

NOT TO WORRY. We have a Chomo in Chief and a Chief Joints of Staff who promised to undermine the US military for the benefit of the Chinese. We are in good hands.

Adios Taiwan. I feel for you and your people.

Well, the latest is that there are now photos of a missile launch coming out by ground observers in Montana. Such a launch could be as much as 500+ miles away given the altitudes involved. So...

Pentagon says another Chinese spy balloon is traveling over Latin America

The U.S. government says that another Chinese spy balloon is traveling over Latin America.

Pentagon spokesperson Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder told Fox News on Friday night that "We are seeing reports of a balloon transiting Latin America. We now assess it is another Chinese surveillance balloon."

This comes after Pentagon spokesperson Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said during a briefing on Thursday afternoon that the U.S. government detected a high-altitude surveillance balloon over the continental U.S.

A senior defense official said during the briefing that the U.S. government is "confident" that the surveillance balloon is from the People's Republic of China.

The balloon was recently over Montana, and the official said that the government considered shooting it down but decided against using military force because of the potential risks.

When President Biden was briefed on the situation, he asked for military options, the official said.

"You did see reports yesterday of a ground stop at Billings Airport and the mobilization of a number of assets, including F-22," the official said. "The context for that was that we put some things on station in the event that a decision was made to bring this down while it was over Montana," the official said.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday that the balloon is a "civilian airship" being used for meteorological purposes and deviated from its planned course.

"The airship is from China. It is a civilian airship used for research, mainly meteorological, purposes," the spokesperson said. "Affected by the Westerlies and with limited self-steering capability, the airship deviated far from its planned course."

The Pentagon doesn't believe the object is a weather balloon that veered off course.

"This was intentional," a senior U.S. official said, adding that the balloon initially took off from mainland China.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken canceled a previously planned trip to China as a result of the balloon's discovery.

The balloon was seen over Kansas City, Missouri, Friday. Department spokesman Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder told reporters the balloon will probably hover over U.S. airspace "a few days."

It can't collect any more info than a spy satellite...which the Chinese have too.

China has an extensive satellite network. In a Nov. 2022 report, the Defense Department said China’s intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance-capable (ISR) satellite fleet had more than 260 systems, second only to the U.S., as of the end of 2021. A senior defense official noted on Thursday that, for China, the balloon flying over Montana “has limited additive value from an intelligence collection perspective.”
