Florida book bans - the first step before burning

Guess we'll find out next year. Trump tends to be insulated from bad news, esp. if it is about him, by his handlers. Reportedly he flies into rages when presented with poor polling or news stories that show him in a bad light, so aides and others try to keep it out of his sight/hearing.

It's displaced aggression on his part. He can't avoid seeing it on his smartphone even if he's such a cowardly pissant as to throw dishes at staffers.

Still, he'll find a reason to get out when it's clear to him he'll lose.

Heh, yep. That's what they love about DeSatan too. He has the power, in his little fascist haven called FL, to pull all kinds of tricks that don't do much other than please the MAGATs and piss off normal people. That "Don't Say Gay" bill, the bill in the OP here. Punishing Disney via taxation for daring to criticism his bigotry. Going to TX to round up some asylum seekers and then flying them to Martha's Vineyard. Yelling at some school kids wearing masks at a photo-op. Punishing a state official who blew the whistle on how FL was cheating on COVID stats by sending armed officers to invade her home. Arresting some ex-cons for voter fraud then having them set free because there was no criminal intent, etc. etc. Non-FL MAGATs hope that he can do all this nastiness on a national level. Think he can get elected on that platform?
Yes. It plays well in Florida, but will NOT play well on the national stage.

I just learned something interesting yesterday. At 25, DeSantis graduated Yale and started teaching at a private college maybe in Ga? Fla.?

He taught history, and his students described him as snotty, and aggressive. (big surprise)

BUT...he used to party with the seniors, which is a big violation of protocol.

In class, he 'understood why the South fought against slavery. People had businesses, and the slaves were their possessions.'

Not much has changed.

We all know that he views politics as a money making scheme. He'll stay in the game until the small dollar donations stop flooding in.

He can make money from suckers either in politics or out. Even when he drops out, he'll continue to milk Trump sheep by declaring the Republican Party corrupt and forming the Party of Truth or some bullshit.

More and more dirt is going to come out about him as media interest in a possible national run ramps up. Just hope they don't create another monster like they did in 2016 with the Toadstool. He had more air time than the rest of the candidates combined. No doubt his operatives are busy digging for that DeSatan dirt right now.

MSNBC morning show takes the blame for giving trump so much airtime in '16. The whores will always push what sells, but back then they thought he was a joke with no chance to win.

A spectacle, as it were.

Never watch it, but we do watch NBC Nightly News most every night. That's what I'm talking about. They'd show a minute or two of one of his Nuremberg rallies, the shoving and pushing and screaming, then just a few seconds of the other candidates' boring-by-comparison speeches.

MSNBC was the worst. They had a long time relationship with trump before his political aspirations. He called every morning.

I like Norah. :)

Hello Doc Dutch,

Trump did it. Of course, he had the advantage of voters on both sides of the aisle who saw Hillary as the corrupt creature she was.

Well, of course, Fox 'News' PR machine is doing their best to try to paint Biden in a bad brush but they are having to get so petty about it not everyone is buying. Support for Biden comes and goes but has generally been on an overall upswing.

Agreed on Fox Newz. The whole Hunter thing is a good example. While I see Biden as a doddering grandpa who should not run again, if not resign to see what Harris can do before 2024, I don't see him as the evil nitwit his predecessor proved to be.

Um, it's pretty safe to say President Biden will not be doing that. Harris isn't very popular in the first place and she isn't going to be able to get anything accomplished with a hostile House. If president Biden did as you propose it would be pretty much handing 2024 to the Republican primary winner.

I doubt any President can get anything done with a "hostile House".

OTOH, after two years of fuck ups, I expect the House to flip back to Democrat...again with a very narrow margin.

Disagreed. The current scenario is another free-for-all election like 2000 and 2016. You know how those turned out. By resigning and letting Harris run as an incumbent, the election favors an incumbent...especially if she has a strong VP. https://www.opensecrets.org/elections-overview/reelection-rates
